Why subs, the game will be ruined ! I guess when they come out, I will try it, but if it is what I think it is, I will be done !

I'm new to this game, but I feel its bad enough with phantom destroyers having low detectability firing torpedoes across the map from behind smoke screens.  You never see them coming until its too late.  Now we'll have submarines trying to crawl up our stern with homing torpedoes?  At what tier do this things appear?  If a low tier, say tier 4 like carriers, why would a WWI sub have homing torpedoes?

Subs could work. However ships need to be changed so, that all types can destroy them. A sub left and a battleship left. there is no way for the battleship to win if the sub is underwater. Also, I think a toggle switch to be put in a match with subs to be included in the port. That or restrict ships that can not attack a ship underwater, or even detect and attack them. Not be put in a match with subs.

I guess this is a good thing I am still not sold on these things. My European DD's better be able to use all the ASW stuff that they have.

This will make a great scenario, player DD's escorting a convoy .   scenario 2  player subs attacking a convoy

Thank goodness they added back the ability to surface. I'm excited about subs, have been since they were announced, however I don't like how unrealistic most of it is, I say make the torps do huge damage but remove the homing mechanic for more skill based gameplay. And before you say "play them before you say anything about them" just know that I did play them quite a bit in the Beta test.

Give players the option on weather to play with or without subs, like picking between random or co-op battles. One good thing it might help stop island huggers and ships not moving and just shelling. This game is getting worse just like World of Tanks, sad, very sad.

So if the subs torps have acoustic guidance why wont the ships torps with accoustics not have guidance as well?

They haven't bothered to fix the broken/missing Operations for over half a year due to the CV implosion. I wouldn't hold my breath on a scenario to focus on subs. Operations and PVE clearly aren't a priority.

It says that dd's and light cruisers will have depth charges, meaning that ALL dd's and light cruiser's will have depth charges? Also, a DD and CL will need sonar in order to detect a Sub, which means, DD's and CL's that didn't come with sonar originally , will now be sonar equipped? Also, it says, " A submarine can be hit at depths down to 6 meters. " Is this a typo? Only 6 meters? That would be totally ridiculous.

 

How about a crash dive feature?

 

And I guess no Hedgehogs.. There were far  more effective than the usual "ash can" type depth charge (A 5-7% kill rate as opposed to the hedgehogs 20-25% kill rate.) Too much too soon?

And I know US subs had a torpedo that was referred to as a "cutie" which was a small charge slow speed acoustic homing torp.  My recollection is they used them more to temporarily disable pursuing DDs and cause confusion the homing tended to hit the screw) as the small charge often wasn't enough to sink ships reliably, and the slow speed and short range made it harder to use effectively.

It will be fine.  With experience, you'll get a handle on those phantom torps from DDs.  I suspect the same will be true for subs.
