I keep seeing that damn European DD in the header for this site and the in game model.
Those are alot of Rocket pods and racks, so Rockets Boats good, idea bad idea?
Would the mechanics work like the Plane rocket or would it be just another ammo type to switch to?
would it be a long range lob or a short range burst?
More importantly how can wargamming make a fake Russian ship with a bunch of katyusha trucks on it?

They need to do something with it because you cant fire forward at all due to the rocket pod blocking the gun. First I've seen of this on a DD. Definitely not a gun boat.

They are not rockets, they are anti-ship guided missiles.

Mid 1950's as the German ones late in WWII were really experimental models and it took that long to finally create reliable models.

V-1 and V-2 weren't really precision missiles they are more to hit a general area then a precise weapon :Smile_hiding: They where really big and clunky also :Smile-_tongue:

They still come under the anti ship guided missile umbrella.

The outcome was foreordained. Germany simply didn't have the manpower, resources, or logistics to take, hold, and administrate its conquests.

Besides, the US wasn't too far behind on its own proto-AShM, (the Bat and both German weapons were glide bombs, with the Hs293 having a rocket motor for intial boost to extend range) and it was radar guided and autonomous, therefore not susceptible to radio jamming, as the German weapons were.

Both of those rocket platforms are for shore bombardment however.

Most of the battleship gunfire in WWII also was shore bombardment.
