I don't think anyone likes domination, it really doesn't work in a slow paced game like this.

I don't frankly think either of the game modes really feels right for a naval based game. In WoT -- fine; sit in your iron coffin and camp a zone. But naval combat is all about mobility; it's about sinking the enemy force. And a key element of that was that sometimes the enemy got away.

 

Maps should be larger, and objectives more varied... bombard X; escort Y; reach point Z with T number of ships intact -- the kind of objectives that you saw in real life.

Edit: Although I do sort of agree with the person above me, sadly I doubt WG would do something like that but, it's a nice thought. We would have to not only hope and pray, but maybe even sacrifice some one's first born son in order to persuade the Devs

I deeply dislike the Domination mode as it is. Between the limited forces you have, three points to control, and with how quickly the cap counters build and the points amass, it's a crap shoot and no one really has fun with it. It's the one time where I would prefer to have more lower tier ships than fewer higher tier ones, since a numerical advantage gives a huge bonus in this mode. What was it one person said during a match of mine where we had fewer ships but more high tiers in a Domination match - "Being down two ships in this mode is like being a one-legged man trying to win an [edited]-kicking contest."

 

If the points built up more slowly, kind of like Encounter mode on WoT, that alone might make a difference. This is just Beta after all, maybe it's something that can be toyed with, see how it works.

Notice how in world of tanks there is an option to not be placed in certain types of battles, why dont you just ask for something like that instead of just being soo naive.

Game ends in like 5 minutes.

 

On this I do agree, Although would you rather play an hour long game of slowly moving or a fast pace, action pacted game. What should happen, is more players in a match.

Myself personally I don't mind Domination, a lot of people play every match as Team Death Match anyway.

I do believe I read somewhere, once the game is out of CBT the maps will become larger. Unsure about this though.

Agreed, although once the maps get bigger, and maybe the capture points get spread out a bit more the game mode might be more interesting.

OK so you don't like Domination Matches.

That is all the information you provide. That you don't like it.

Why do you not like it ?

Because you do not understand how it works.

Take into account that I am new at this game yet as i have only played tier 1 thru 3 I see many people GIVING UP the win in these matches.

In Domination you sail across the squares to " own " them.

Of course you do not have to stay in them once they are turned to your teams ownership.

Here is the problem as I see it.

Friendlies sail out away from the square giving the enemy a chance at taking it.

As the enemy moves in, it takes time for them to change owner ship, perhaps to long.

They ( enemy ) can still lose by supremacy from not moving fast enough.

 

What I see in most matches is that one team doesn't seem to understand to move into the squares.

They stay out side and shoot volleys of rounds destroying one ship after another then move to another area

never once capturing the square or changing it.

The enemy has one ship left, off in the distance out of gun range, THEY STILL WIN.

 

Most of you are from the the shoot everything and win generation. When given a game that actually takes tactics and thought you bail.

The need to kill everything in sight is what causes you to fail be it Tanks, Planes, Warships.

 

Learning to WIN by supremacy is what many of you fail to understand.

 

What possible changes could be made to DOMINATION to suit both camps of thought.

If a friendly moves away from an owned square it is still owned and counted in the supremacy count.

If an enemy moves into it then it should be captured more quickly than current time allows.

Maybe, make it an instant capture and change in supremacy.

This would cause more people to either stay in a square and defend it or force them to recapture

rather than running to the edge of the map counting on time and the ability to survive and win.

 

As it stands now I like the current system but again I am still in low tiers.

The lower tier system seems fine for me.

The game would get stale pretty quick with out different ways to win.    Domination needs some tweaking on the timers for sure, but its a fun game mode and creates a bit more tactical game play.

domination mode can be over too quickly but dont remove it.  It is a different style of play and lately i have been in matches that have lasted quite abit i think due to the fact that people are starting to understand how to play it so its not a fast cap race anymore ( for the most part ). I do wish it wouldnt come up in rotation as often as it does tho.  

 

If the % chance of it coming up in the random setup could be lowered so players would get a normal cap your enemy or encounter as a higher percentage it might ease things here in the testing.

As already stated, instead of removing the mode, just put an option to not get in domination type match, i personally don't mind domination, it's quite fun, though quite frustrating at time too.

I would have to agree with this player.

although the mode is not yet perfect and adjustments do need to be made.

It is the players fault and lack of understanding the current mode.

Being able to turn this game mode off, would be nice. I don't like it as most of the time it is a free for all, I have a hard time figuring out what to do with my BB. You can't standoff because of the obstacles, and you don't have the speed or maneuverability to cap and defend yourself, and timers so fast it is hard to get to caps to reset. I tend to yolo into B most of the time, as I don't know what else to do.

the current game modes need some tweaking but i personally like them...though it would be nice to see more game modes as to have more variety in the game play.

Domination is terrible, and I love it in actual shooters and other games. It just doesn't work in this game. If you lose your DDs, what are you supposed to do?

 

Why is domination on some knife fight maps a thing when there's no open maps for actual fleet battles?

So many threads on the same topic. A variety of modes is essential to the game.

 

I agree with this statement, but this game mode needs some serious rethinking. At tops keep it at tier 1-2 or 1-3. Where mostly DDs and CA can have a field day duking it out with their speed.

I would also like to point out that we are beta testing. I don't think there should be an option to opt out of game modes during actual testing. I opt out of Assault mode in WoT and I have no problem with there being a feature to do the the same thing in World of Warships... after it is released.

 

As for now, we are testing. Adding screenshots and evidence of why you support a certain opinion is a lot better than simply stating that you don't like something. The developers need more input than "I don't like it...please remove".

 

Also, obnoxiously stating that "no one likes it", after others say they like "it" and state reasons for their opinion, is rather rude.

Domination's point accumulation is a little fast, imo, but I think it's fine as a game mode. It promotes aggression, but players don't seem to like the proposition of running at the enemy for the purpose of an objective. And then they complain when the enemy team obtains a "pyrrhic" victory.
