Osprey is making several of their ebooks available for free for the next 3 weeks.  Since we are having to stay home from CV19, they are giving out some free reading materials.  Thanks Osprey!

For those not familiar with Osprey books, they concentrate on very specific military history subjects and have commissioned artwork to illustrate them. They can be on a campaign, vehicle, weapon, order of battle, aces, troop type etc. Osprey books cover the entirety of military history from before the Egyptians to the present day.

Apply the coupon code (code is in link below) at the bottom of your basket, not the checkout, to get them for free. You can add them all and then apply the coupon once and it will take the tally to zero.  (Requires a free Osprey acct.  Also make sure to select correct country/region of world)

One of the free ebooks this week is:  US Heavy Cruisers 1943–75

Other four are:

AVG 6: Hawker Hurricane Mk I–V by Martyn Chorlton
Illustrated by Adam Tooby, Simon Smith

CAM 276: Waterloo 1815 (1) by John Franklin
Illustrated by Gerry Embleton

MAA 447: The Czech Legion 1914–20 by David Bullock
Illustrated by Ramiro Bujeiro

WAR 7: Samurai 1550–1600 by Anthony J Bryant
Illustrated by Angus McBride

Not sure if you can still get the 5 from last week, but here is the link:

Top right.

If you don't, you'll have to start all over again.

FWIW, I got to checkout, entered all my personal data for an account, bounced off this, and now the web site is no longer responding - at all.   Disappointing.

Edit:  Finally got in.  No, the week 1 code no longer works.

Edit: Checked out 10 minutes ago.   No confirmation or access email yet.  Anxious.

Thanks a bunch for the link, +1! While I love Osprey publishing, the relatively high price at which they are sold in my country is often quite a bit over my budget.

Yeah, the site and/or internet seems pretty sluggish this morning.  My order for Week 2 went through, but it also took me more than one try.  Also, while I can access the Week 2 ebooks, I've not received any email confirmation either.  Check your acct, you might be able to access them even though you didn't get an email.

^Great.  fyi: The download filenames are just a number string (and .pdf for mine).  I've had to rename them so I can tell whats what.

True enough, but one of those two CV19s is a taboo topic on the WOWS forums.  Just trying to be discrete... :Smile_Default:

Heavy cruisers is a good book.  I go back for more!

Update:  You can buy BOTH ePub and pdf formats for no cost.  I've been struggling with getting a good ePub reader because my library lends only locked editions.

Adobe DEd on many books refuses to scale text (I think it wraps IE).

There are browser ePub readers for Firefox, but they don't do page scaling well.  And ePub files are Big.

PDF still seems to be the best option.

Got them.  FREEBOOKS3 (works this week only).

There was an error 500 at the end of checkout; the books showed in my download bin, but couldn't be downloaded.  Checked out again, and it worked fine.

Thanks again !

Just a heads up that the Week 2 books are still available (for now).   They had some website issues this week so they posted (on Facebook) that they are keeping the Week 2 and Week 3 codes live until they fixed the problem.  So if you missed grabbing US Heavy Cruisers 1943–75 from Week 2, you still can!  (link is in 1st post in this thread).  The Week 2 link/downloads still work (as of a few minutes ago), but don't wait too long...

Osprey Publishing I'm sorry to hear this. We will keep the second and third weeks of free eBooks live until the website is fixed.

Week 4 is up:

  •  Jagdgeschwader 52 by John Weal
  •  Japan 1945 by Clayton K. S. Chun
  •  Viking Warrior vs Anglo-Saxon Warrior by Gareth Williams
  •  M1 Abrams vs T-72 Ural by Steven J. Zaloga
  •  Bill Slim by Robert Lyman

I was hoping for some more naval stuff, but Thanks again Osprey!
