Its all about Dispersion

Why is the dispersion from enemy fire so low ?

I'm always getting hit from all distances and its always mid-superstructure of citadel hits

And these hits usually result in heavy damage.  Meanwhile its the opposite when I fire at any enemy.

My dispersion is usually wide for minimal damage.  Often I miss a target all together.

Its all about Dispersion -

High dispersion mean little to no hits.  No hits means no damage.  No damage leads to few XP points.

And few XP points means no Badges or Emblems,  also very few Victories.

Dispersion is a thing yes. You can have good or bad RNG.

But if after 10 shot you still miss your target even though that player isn't doing any evasive maneuver, it is not the game but your own aim.

An insignificant amount I'd guess and even smaller group that had any real benefit to them at all.  It's not CSGO after all.

As has been pointed out before, due to long shell flight times, this is one of those games where having an aim assist would be a liability against all but the absolute worst players.

And sure, it is technically possible for someone to hack WG's server to mess with their dispersion. In the same way it's possible to rob a bank with your legs tied together, while announcing your name, address, car license plate and social security number. Very hard to do for not much of a reward, and the law will come down on you in short order.

I wonder how many player are using Aim Assist....

I wonder how many ememies provide their own aim assist, by making it easy.

I had a Kii sail broadside to my Musashi at 14km. After I took 40% of his HP, he went behind an island. He re-emerged on the other side, exact same course, and stopped.

So I took the other 60% lol.

Even if somebody is using an illegal aim assist, you're only going to be hit if your ship is where the assist predicted it would be. A few random small maneuvers, and it won't be.

Besides, it can't be that many. If it was, people would be getting absolutely pasted for sitting still, and most would stop doing it.

Not seeing any trends in that department lol.

Nobody.

Server side fixed that issue back at patch 5.0.

Are you using the module that decreases dispersion?

It helps.

But if your still having problems, try playing destroyers....they have the lowest dispersion.

....

What reticle are you using?

I use static number 9.

Japanese heavy cruisers, the 203mm ones, also use the destroyer dispersion.

I don't play ships with bad dispersion anymore. Just can't do it!

Is that why you play cruisers and destroyers mostly?

Slower ROF will not let him adjust his aim adequately.

Ideally a Des Moines would solve his problem.

Dunno.  Better ballistics make it easier to hit.  Des Moines is a good option, but you only get that when you reach Tier X whereas the IJN CAs start at Tier V and go to Tier X, save Tier VIII if you opt to use the 155s.

To be clear, IJN 203mm ballistics aren't much different than US 203mm ballistics, but they are much better than DD ballistics.

The Calvinist approach is that you were predestined to not rise above a preset WR when you first started playing. Mine is 52%. I did not look to see what yours is. If you are in danger of getting above your preset value, your RNG will be bad, when you fall below that threshold, your RNG will improve. Self improvement is not in the cards dealt you or I. Beats watching television though.

Its not my imagination.  I'm I see more and more that the dispersion of enemy fire is far less.  Even when exchanging salvos with ships that are the some (Amagi vs Amagi, Baltimore vs Baltimore)

Are you using WASD like a crazy person?

If not, use WASD like a crazy person. At all times.

Changing course, speed or angling has nothing to do with hits from salvos that have no dispersion.

I find it weird that somehow all the hits I receive are mid-superstructure / citadel hits  from ALL RANGES

No dispersion = Max damage

In every battle, I get hit and its  mid-superstructure.   Not bow or stern,  from like 17 -19km

How is that possible.   Meanwhile,  I fire at enemy with AP or HE shells and its low damage 870 - 1256 HP damage.

Sometime I totally miss with all shells --  bul#$%

If your wanting to improve your aim, faster ROF with good ballistics would be the choice.

.....

If a player is struggling with a ships guns, I recommend going into co-op.
