I believe they got too close to an underwater alien base and the aliens took them out.  If you can't disprove that aliens are responsible for something mysterious then that means aliens did it.  I learned that on Ancient Aliens.

 

But srsly, I haven't had time to watch the entire video yet but I'm looking forward to it.
