After a few patches now, my game performance has not been consistent.

Game starts at 10fps and jumps upto 20fps then averages around 15fps, and it is like this for rest of the game

Now it is unplayable for me.

Any help to fix wows fps drop??

Note. All my graphics driver are upto date and settings are at default.

Aloha,

Just wondering what your computer specs are? Any number of things can lower your FPS depending on your computer, but we can start there.

I typically have to reinstall WoWS after a patch or two. It seems to fix that issue.

Do you know if you loaded the "Ultra" version of the client or regular?

Go  to https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Download and run adwcleaner (free) from bleepingcomputer.com

A really good program that I have run for years is system mechanic. It's around 30 dollars a year but well worth the money imo.

reboot your machine.  win 10 is garbage, you're not using your graphics card, just your intel chip.

Few things,

  • Make sure your cables to your card is going to the right monitor..
  • Make sure your drivers are updated and installed properly
  • Make sure you're not using any other widow while playing the game...

This is just the must common problems users of the forum have shared and fixed.

Mine dips from 76 to the mid 60s at times. Wows is the worst for fps and  pricing it gets worse and worse as time goes on.

I use an i9 with RTX2070 video card and 16 RAM.    I've run WoWs Ultra for over a year now and  was playing routinely (with my upgraded cable internet "COX") at 175 FPX and now only manage 75 FPX.    Everyone I've talked with in WoWs seems to have noticed a drop in game performance since this last update.    A lot of of differnt players all experiencing this issue it would seem?????     And I did just recently (with this update) download the game all over again.

I'm starting to get temporary freezes and ping spikes, and never really noticed any problems before (for years).

They have been updating the maps with better graphics.  I wonder if the laptop is also getting hot and throttling the CPU.  I have an i7 with a 1080 and get 75 fps with the highest settings, without any real issues - even at 2560x1440.  I would expect an i5 and bit lower GPU be a bit worse but not as bad as you seem to be having.  Understand - I really don't know the i5 line to know how your i5 will perform.  Reinstall with out the Ultra version and play with the settings.  MOnitor your CPU temps as well.

Where did I say it WAS his problem? I never did, furthermore, I was asking for more information in order to figure the issue out.

The first thing I ALWAYS ask is a computers specs. ALWAYS. And as you can see my next question was about which version of the client he has loaded, standard or Ultra.

It is quite litterally the FIRST step for ANY tech to ask when being asked about PC problems.  You massively overreacted and you owe someone an apology.

I know Ultra is sound which can be changed in settings if you are running Ultra (hover over the ? where the setting is).  You could try lowering audio quality, but doubt is will make a difference.  Since its a laptop you could double check in bios that onboard video is disabled.

Make sure to limit unnecessary startup programs in task manager.

Check the Game engine XML file and see if it is capped there.

I am actually referring to the load of the client. We give you two options. "Standard" or "Ultra." "Ultra" loads a lot more information onto your PC. But yes, I would lower my graphix settings all the way down and then slowly bump them up to see if there is something that could be doing this before we tackle trying to reload the client. I do know that NVIDIA has had 2 updates in the last week. And the first one had to be patched by a second, it was effecting my FPS in multiple games.

According to the launcher "Ultra" is for sound settings as seen in the screenshot.  I don't know personally.  Anything is worth a shot at this point.  Make sure vertical sync is unchecked as well as triple buffering just to rule out any problems.

Modern laptops have BOTH GPUs enabled -- the discrete only comes online when it's needed.  The integrated is capped  to 40 or 44 FPS, and in wows my integrated does 18fps or so whereas the 1650 I have locked to 59FPS.  There are times where the system will not enable the discrete for whatever reason and the only solution to fix it is a reboot.
