Cheapest re-grind?

I've been toying with the idea of doing the Research Bureau thing, despite my dislike of the concept.  I was thinking I'd re-grind the German BB line, since there weren't any ships in that line that I absolutely hated, and I kept most of them.  Then I got to wondering what it would cost to just use free XP and do an instant re-grind.  Below is what I came up with for German BBs.  But if I'm not actually doing the grinding, I don't necessarily have to choose a line where I don't hate most of the ships from tier V to tier IX.  Has anyone crunched the numbers and figured out what the cheapest line in the game is?

  German BB
tier ship xp ship credits hull module xp hull module credits
III 2,700 318,000 1,600 160,000
IV 6,700 774,000 2,000 280,000
V 13,000 1,600,000 9,500 880,000
VI 40,500 3,470,000 16,500 1,000,000
VII 80,500 6,700,000 24,000 1,350,000
VIII 135,000 11,000,000 52,000 3,900,000
IX 180,000 15,900,000 54,000 5,100,000
X 255,000 20,600,000
Total 713,400 60,362,000 159,600 12,670,000

Total ship + modules 873,000 73,032,000

My least favorite thing about RB is that re-setting a line interrupts my ability to use that line. even when I immediately buy everything back with  Free-XP and credits, im spending an hour or two also placing all the modules and flags and captains back on the ship... the administration overhead of RB take away a lot of time from playing the game.

My recommendation... do not reset the line you sail the most frequent... because when you want a break from grinding... you just reset the line you would default to...

I think the Jap DD lines are the cheapest to reset.... but i haven't confirmed that in a while.

It is definitely a DD line.

The other thing to remember when resetting the line is the credits it costs as well. I chose a line to reset that I wouldn't mind grinding about 70% of tier 7-9. This way I could save more Free XP for further resets down the line. But what I wasn't expecting was the huge credit sink it was. So since the DD's are the cheapest to buy and generally have the lowest XP to lvl they might be the way to go for you.

If you plan to grind some of it I highly suggest resetting something you enjoyed leveling the first time around.

Think I might try the Pan-Asian DD line next.  It's a quirky line, but can be fun.

If you’re looking for the cheapest in terms of xp, the Harugumo line is the way to go. At the same time, something could be said for picking a line you actually enjoyed playing through even if it’s not the cheapest.

The cheapest, and probably easiest, re-grind is the IJN gun boat DD line(The Akizuki line). The second easiest is, I feel, the PA DD line.

Thanks for the tips, folks.  Really appreciated not having to calculate it for every possible line.  LOL.  Looks like Japanese DDs going up the Shimakaze line might be my best bet (below).  I didn't go up the other line yet.  Just haven't gotten around to it.  I only kept the Akatsuki along the way to Shima, but I didn't absolutely hate most of the others.  Definitely cheaper than German BBs:

Japanese DD
tier ship xp ship credits hull module xp hull module credits
II 720 60000 350 25000
III 2,000 256,000 950 70,000
IV 5,100 705,000 1,100 150,000
V 11,000 1,380,000 4,400 420,000
VI 34,000 2,950,000 10,500 950,000
VII 63,000 5,100,000 12,400 1,100,000
VIII 115,000 9,100,000 21,000 1,600,000
IX 154,000 13,200,000 26,000 2,000,000
X 223,000 19,300,000
Total 607,820 52,051,000 76,700 6,315,000

Japanese DD total ship+ modules 684,520 58,366,000
German BB total ship+ modules 873,000 73,032,000

When I dropped most other things to grind Moskva from Shchors just recently, I did not grind the B fire control systems. That's quite a few tens of thousands of XP off the totals.

I know @Destroyer_KuroshioKai advocates staying with the stock GFCS for destroyers to be able to drop off detection more easily, so that would shorten any DD grind. What's not always possible is to skip the torpedoes: some of the paths for the DD lines (e.g. Minsk to Ognevoi) lead through them, and some of the IJN DDs are painful to play with stock torps because of range issues - I have to admit I ground to Fubuki's B torps in co-op because there you're usually obliged to launch at such short range that this disadvantage doesn't matter.

I did the IJN DD line with FXP and credits on hand (I had about 5 mil and 800 mil respectively) and it really did eat both at a remarkable clip.

But I had Colbert in about an hour.

The RB is clearly meant to be a FXP and credit sink from the way it was designed. There are many other things they could have done to encourage low/mid tier play, which was given as a reason at the time. Now their statements are that they are pretty indifferent to all but high tier play.
