Chat ban is a very excessive measure as it affects comms for the entire team rather than being a penalty for the offender. Also the appeals are rather impossible as it will never be disclosed the actual event that led to the ban. The mechanic needs a serious review specially on the grounds of the effect upon team in a team based game. Rant end, good seas chaps.

Actually, they do see your chat logs... They dont display them too you...

As the current system is in place, if you get a chat ban, the fleet benefits more of your silence...

@Hapa_Fodder

I know that publicly, chat logs are not shown/displayed... Its against the EULA/TOS HOWEVER, are there private remedies/options that can be used ?

This, the support people have access to your chat logs and a person checks them over for bans longer than 24 hours. Think before hitting enter on anything you are saying to another person. If you think they did something stupid don't say that and instead suggest that doing X would have been better.

Watch your language. Don't cuss or berate others. Kinda simple. Don't type something you wouldn't tell someone across the table. Easy to talk crap from a keyboard is my take.

This

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

If a player is in that predicament, probably would be better to just take the medicine and go on.

Guys, the chats to be disclosed to you are those made by you therefore they are not disclosing any information in any way. They are merely pointing it out to you(if they were).
This is done by humans because this is the part if the system not pertaining to straight forward insults and foul language and  it is subject to subjectivity.
Also, why offer an appeal and refuse to provide tools for it? One can review its previous battles in replay, but how can one know which one is the ban related to(put into account that this is a review done by hand in the case of language such that will not be filtered by software). Ill give you a simple example of a cultural thing in language. Same language but different countries. The work for grabbing with one's hands something in Spanish in Spain(and object, someone else hands, etc) is "cojer", which is also perfect and decent everyday language. Then in Argentina the exact same word, letter by letter and in sound has a significantly different meaning. It is foul language for penetrative intercourse be this vaginal or anal. Given this info lets create a situation in which one part will speak with no intentions as of to insult the other party but given the cultural differences the latter will understand its being insulted.
"Coje el perro y llévalo a pasear", in Spain this will be an innocent "take the dog outside for a walk" but in Argentina this would be "[edited] the dog and take it for a walk".
And those that go ahead and say that the team is better out without the "banned" person in chat, you are the proof that human review has to be rebuttable.
But most important here and the main point is to make the offender aware of the offence in a deeper sense that the mere nature of it. The offender is in need to have precise understanding of the infringement of norms incurred in order to prevent from future reincidence.

The appeal process is to state a case to why your speech did not violate the term of EULA/TOS...

Every MMO game have an appeal process/remedy...

Regarding Spanish words, the TOS/EULA is in Spanish also... So whatever you say in Spanish can be sanctioned as well.

Remember, WG knows the language, its not limited to English in NA... So if you say something in Spanish that is translated badly into English, if it Violates the TOS/EULA... You will get Sanctioned imposed.

Missing the point mate.
The language was for an example of word meanings, not about the offence being committed in a determined language.
The appeal process is there to be clicked on,  yet you cant tell what to appeal and therefore you just cant appeal and trust in their fair judgment.

Chat Banning is one of the biggest reasons for hating World of Warships.  It's Force. Force is Evil.  They don't see it.  More disgusting than anything ever said.

Again the definitions are in the TOS/.EULA...

Sanctions are there as well.

Totally misleading the conversation mate.

But since you like to read the EULA, here it is for you and in the corresponding section. In Spanish since we mentioned the language.

You can read that clause 2.02 is loosely or vaguely defined, that clause is the reason of this post. Hope you can understand it, if you still cant follow it you can ask a legal assistant or a lawyer to help you out.

English/Spanish its the same use google translate...

2.02 is clear as day for me, dont type words that are prohibited in a manner that is meant to elude the filters/censors... Its in English and Spanish...

So the question is...Why is it vague for you that you need a lawyer to help you understand ???

Which words are prohibited then? Legal principles 101, if its not specifically prohibited it is lawful.
Besides, Google Translate does a poor job at translations. How about learn both languages first?

Simple, any language that is rated R by the MPAA,

The same rating system is used for games... (Give thanks to Tipper Gore for that).

BTW

I think GOOGLE Translate does a better job then a native writer

Aloha,

I didn't see this earlier and wish I had.

So as a WeeGee employee, let me respond to you, though this post is locked, because quite frankly, I am seeing multiple forum violations going on.

1: Just because you say you don't see someone get chat banned, doesn't mean it doesn't occur. You can get chat banned in multiple ways. And as stated chat bans work in escalation depending on number of violations and severity.

  • Good rule of thumb, if you wouldn't say something to one of your loved ones, don't say it here or in game.

2: If chat is a big problem for you, SHUT IT OFF, we put that option into the game for a reason.

3: For the future, when other players, moderators or staff let you know you've violated rules or give you actual advice, it is better to take that on board and move forward than to lash out back at those people. This is true in game as well as on here.

4: If you were chat banned and feel it was unjust,  you can put a ticket in to appeal it. If it WAS unjust, even if it was for a short chat ban, the strike against you also gets removed. This is important, because if it happens again, whether due to trolling or actual infraction, your punishment wont be escalated.

There are over 3000 people roaming through and posting in the many forum threads here. And the number of mods we have and staff are in the single digit numbers. We literally attempt to read or moderate every single post. This is also why there is a "report" option, so if someone is getting out of line and breaking our rules, we can be prompted to this. This is also why I tell people to PM me or tag me any time they have questions.

Also our forum rules are below, AND quite frankly if you follow these in chat, things will go better as well.

Mahalo,

-Hapa

These forums are designed to be a fun and interesting place for the community to gather to discuss all aspects of World of Warships. In the spirit of keeping these forums a part of the World of Warships experience, we’ve established a list of things that are unacceptable to post on our forums.

While this may not spell out every possible item to avoid, use common sense. There are items that belong on a video game forum, and items that don’t.

The following items are not acceptable on the World of Warships forums. Violations of these rules may result in temporary, or permanent bans.

  • Excessive Profanity/F-bombs
    • Be an adult, excessive profanity does not help make your point.
  • Religious and Political Discussions
    • You’re free to feel how you feel about these topics, but an online video game forum is not the place for it.
  • Posting exploits/hacks
    • If you come across a bug, or a third-party tool that would otherwise impact gameplay, please report it using the appropriate channels.
    • Discussing the exploitation of game mechanics, or encouraging the usage of mechanics outside of their intended design.
  • Personal attacks
    • Stat shaming, personal attacks, threats, phrases that are designed to be offensive, or attack someone, etc. This includes intentionally trolling other users in your post or attacking WG volunteers, staff, or partners. Be civil.
  • Discussing moderation
    • If you’ve had a post moderated, please provide feedback in private.
  • Pornographic, drug, or other taboo or potentially sensitive content
    • These forums are not the place for this sort of content.
  • Remain constructive and on-topic
    • Keeping threads related to their topic ensures valuable discussions, this also related to ensuring your threads are housed in the appropriate sections of the forum.
  • “Necro’ing” of old threads or the excessive bumping of threads
    • Thread bumping for visibility is not allowed except for in the clan recruiting section which is limited once per 24-hour period. Players should also avoid commenting in outdated threads.
  • Bumping threads
    • If a conversation is going to get engagement, it will get engagement. Threads posted in Clan Recruitment have a modified version of this rule, please see the guidelines outlined here for more details.

Please note, we will update and amend these guidelines as necessary.

These guidelines are superseded by the EULA

Also, please note that abusing the reporting functionality of the forums is not only annoying, but it can also result in moderation actions being taken.

Thanks, but you can see that point N°4 is obscure so to speak. You cant review your phrase in order to see if you agree to the ban.

This thread is not about getting away with murder(still 6 days is an awful lot, even more so without any warnings), is about having a clear and honest trial. The evidence has to be shown to the offender.

Aloha,

So I will address this topic and your last reply. If you want to talk about this more PM me please, as posts like this often roll out into troll land...

You clicked the "OK" on the EULA. I will summarize what you're agreeing to:

  • In essence, if you wouldn't say something to your loved ones, children etc, DON'T say it in chat. The guidelines for these forums are good guidelines also for chat:
Be civil.

If you got chat banned for 6 days, that means you have either excessive chat violations over the course of a short time, or A LOT of players that you have been playing with have reported you for your language and someone has probably reviewed your chat logs. Again, when you click the EULA you agree to the rules and guidelines. This is not negotiable, we will not discuss moderation or what rules you broke.

-Hapa

I've never been chat banned but taking the chat feature entirely out of the game seems like a good idea to me.  No on actually plays as if they are on a team anyway so taking chat out of the game would do no real harm and would end person to person conflicts and name calling.

Not sure that the effect "upon the team" is really important for randoms, but I am a strong believer that people should be allowed to speak their minds without fear of censorship, and if any snowflakes are harmed in the process so be it. If the words of a stranger on the internet hurts you you really should be working on your own social problems rather than playing video games.

That's my take on the whole censorship thing, but we're in the age of snowflakes and the snowflakes are taking over society.

While in "port" screen, right mouse click on the person name, Black List

In game, right click, public chat Off

or

right click, turn off chat of the specific person you don't want to see him typing
