Seriously what happened to the playerbase?

I used to be amazed by this guy named Fezzik from my clan.  2400+ PR.  He would be on top of scoreboard every match.  Used to amaze us.  No matter how bad the match went or how quickly it ended he almost always found the top of that scoreboard.  He was just that good.  He uninstalled a while ago unfortunately.  But now I find myself on top of the scoreboard in a majority of my matches.  No idea why.  I'm not a unicum, never was.   My stats are green not purple.

I know I didn't suddenly turn into an amazing player overnight.  Its not me getting better.   Its the rest of the playerbase getting worse.  I've heard its Chinese re-roll accounts from the server transfer thing, but were there really that many that came over to maker this big of an impact?

I've seen more of my clan members/friends uninstall or stop playing over the past year than I care to admit, and its sad.

Anyways, sorry for my ranting.....

High tier premium flood is wreaking havoc with high tier play. It's just T4 with bigger guns now. The CV disaster isn't helping either. And a lot of people have gotten fed up with WG's recent decisions, NTC, PR, RU ships.

2019 was a rough year

As a game grows older players loose interest for various reasons.

People do complain about the player base, changes to game mechanics, new content or lack there of, etc but the real reason is we find other things to entertain us.

Care to present some data to backup your claims? And, are you sure that you know what the term "autism" refers to?

It doesn't help that this niche game is trying really, really, hard to lose its existing player base.

I'm sure the finances looks fine on their spreadsheets, however.

Like the admin here said, only a tiny percent of the playerbase ever comes here to the forums. While the admins read the posts here, the posts are not going to determine how they modify the game unless they are corroborated by actual data. As far as player numbers are concerned, the playerbase for this game is pretty-much stable.

Average players for the year before the rework versus the past 12 months.

I came from the Asian server, because I had heard the NA server was much better.

The Asian server is toxic. Nobody speaks english, or so they claim, as they play without regard to team objectives, and multiple CVs are the rule.

I am seeing a lot of new asian players on the NA Server. Also, a lot more CVs.

Of course.

Look, the CVs are going to go where the other players are found. Of course the Asian CV players are migrating to the NA server. They don't want to play with each other. They want to troll non CV players.

There is a reason CVs are not an option. There is a reason we are forced to play with this utterly ridiculous and broken example game design.

If customers were given a choice, CVs would be left alone to play with each other. They can't tolerate that. They want to attack targets that cannot attack them back. If they can't attack relentlessly, without any risk, they would not get what they want, and so they would stop playing. Therefore, the failure of game design would be exposed, and CVs would be, once and for all, finished.

That is why we are not given choice, as customers. Because WG are in denial, about the toxic consequences of this failure of game design.

The only thing we can do, as customers, is withhold our money from WG until they make CVs optional.

this isn't the same as the quality of gameplay. Average numbers may have held up, but the quality of battles and gameplay has been in steady decline according to some (and my subjective experience tends to agree with that view).

It's hard to quantify "quality." In fact, it's hard to even define it. Have you ever read "Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and "Lila" by Robert Pirsig? In them he addresses the subject. For instance, he tells a story of how a friend of his came over with a loose handlebar on his motorcycle, an expensive BMW. He grabbed an empty beer can, cut a shim and fixed the problem for free in less than a minute. However, his friend wasn't satisfied because the shim wasn't an official BMW part, which was exactly the same thickness and made of exactly the same material as a beer can. The functionality was there with the beer can shim but the perception of quality was not.

All that shows is the same number of players are around, not the same quality. I personally know a few unicums that have left since rework. Have a look at the quality of player around now, says it all.

I miss big V-8 muscle cars, but I can still drive because I found a car I like. I like radio, but I can't stand hip-hop, so I found a radio station that doesn't play it. The world changes and life goes on.

It doesn't matter whether you blame the flood of high-tier premium ships, the glut of CV pests, a supposed exodus of top players replaced by dilettantes, rent-seeking business practices, or the tooth fairy. The game is not what it was, and will never be what everyone thinks it should be.

It's a binary choice. Always has been. Either find some game mode that floats your boat or move on. What the hell is the sense in being voluntarily miserable? Personally, I still get a bit of fun out of derping around in PvE. That's just me. If even that ceases to be fun, there will be other things to do that are fun. A game is supposed to be entertainment, not a life-long career ffs.

You are "moving the goalposts," which is an argumentative fallacy. The only reason that WG might be concerned about players' perception of the "quality" of the game is if their disappointment resulted in declining numbers, which isn't the case. It really doesn't matter whether you or a few others here think that the quality of the game is declining as long as people play the game and buy the merchandise.

Also, sInce the win rates of the players follow a normal distribution, this means that "unicums" (as delineated by the levels and colors of the stats sites) are only a small percentage of the player population (about 5%). Thus, it really doesn't matter much if they leave or not, unless they spend an inordinate amount of money on the game. In fact, most poor-to average players, those who make up three-quarters of the playerbase, would probably like it if unicums didn't show up in significant numbers in matches, especially at lower tiers, because they tend to run roughshod over them when they do. There is a name for this in WOWS, it's called "seal-clubbing."

Once again, I suggest that you provide some data to backup your claims. Data on the number of unicums still active is available, all you have to do is compile it.

Top tier play has always been trash.

That's the tiers in which BB players are most likely to stay as far back as possible while letting their DD and Cruiser allies get blasted to pieces.  It's the tier at which people complain the most about CV's instead of actually finding ways to deal with them..  In fact many people absolutely refuse to play destroyers above tier 7.  For me the biggest issue with the game is that, if I try to play a tier 7 or 8 ship, I'll always be bottom tier and half the players on each team, even though they have higher tier ships, will be playing like.. well..  I'm not allowed to say what they play like on the forum, then they'll complain about me not charging suicidally at the enemy so they can see someone to shoot at. (again, because they refuse to get close enough to the fight that can actually spot people themselves)

Personally I play the game because I have fun.....whether its getting torped , burning to the waterline , or whatever. But , I do not care about stats . this is something that has come about because of how kids are taught for the last 30 years . Everybody gets an award ( but don't tell anybody we gave you a better award ) .

I also play co-op mostly because there will always be someone who is trash-talking in game . Its the keyboard warrior generation , they feel safe , smug and superior.....as long as they are behind the screen . Sadly , said same people are completely different in real life.....as their butts in no way can cover the checks their mouth has written in chat . Seen this a lot in the past 30 years watching gaming grow . Besides I look at it differently.....if their are whining and complaining in chat , then I must be doing something right.

So...my advice is kill / die for the team , look at it from a strategic point for the team , then grab a coffee n smoke and RELAX.....ITS A GAME .

And I came from an older game / forum where most of the players are so toxic about their pixel stuff that some of you would blush at what is said / done . That game came out in 2003.....some of you might even know it....Freelancer .

Bah...most of you newbies don't know how good you got it now-a-days. The game is so much easier, even with them newfangled CVs and all. ("Course, in the olden days we DID have RTS CVs and the Tier 6 Cleveland...…….. :cap_rambo: HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! :cap_rambo:)  Why back in the early days of this game we had to sail our ships UPHILL.....BOTH WAYS, to get in and out of battles! Yep, yep, yep...…...we had us a ton of expert edge riders and NO edge speed penalty!!!! Stick THAT in your smokestack and smoke it!  Now, you youngins go find your little safe spaces and read a book or, umm, one of those Kindle things......and yeah, GET OFF MY OCEAN!!!!

As games age they tend to lose old players to boredom and gain fewer new ones due to natural game obsolescence and competition from newer games. However, that the servers that lost population only lost, collectively, 3.5% of the average player population over the last year and a half is simply amazing for a five-year-old game.

However, if we look at the overall average player population for all months before the CV rework and compare it to all months after the rework we get this: before rework, 7508; after rework, 8177. On average, there have been more players on the NA server after the rework than before it.

It's really just kind of a silly game there so many other better ones out there not many people play this thing except for really really bad players that can't make it playing other games

Installed a MM monitor  can't believe how bad 90% of the players are I mean really bad

WG had a nice thing going for a while but as with everything they screwed it up they have built a bad game built for the bad player and if you're slightly competent your God in this thing

And as it's going it's only going to get worse not better so why invest any more time
