Good morning folks.

The morning is cold, the coffee is hot, and I can almost see the weekend from here.

What are we fighting about today?

It's too damn cold, I hate coffee, and the weekend's just a hassle for me!

I woke up,  put out the wheelie bin for the trash guys, booted up the laptop, and my news feed automatically gave me updates on COVID-19.    I think I better brew up some Darjeeling before I do anything else.

Smolensk is OP

Ranked Suks

TK'ing teammates suk

Whatever ship I just lost in suks

I'm waiting for the first in depth analysis of why camo paint shouldn't work on subs. That should be entertaining.

I actually had to take a look to see if camo on subs was a real thing.  Yup, it is!

Oh today i'm sure it will be

CV's suck - yes yes they do..  not going away so.. have to deal with it.  My biggie though is i'm sailing in a ship with AA rating over 90 and i get attacked and i only shoot down 1 plane? when they attack  huh.. Yeah i know it's more complicated then that but perception is usually what drives people to complain about stuff. 90 AA = virtually no planes get near me. perception.. reality is far different.

Ranked - is OMFG terrible - only played two games and realize i have to get a different mind set and stop worrying so much about getting Buff's and play the dam game.

I'll add one that may not have come up, the "Colbert" .. holy mother of stupid..  I think that ship puts all the other "pew pew" ships to shame.. Sure it is a bit squishy but..  Can't run away from it fast enough to survive.. Just a steady stream of shells. I have not encountered many but last night.. geez..

As for Camo on subs? the one i served on didn't have it :)  unless you consider "all black" to be camo.. hmm guess you could.

I think Camo  on subs was more of a thing back when subs surfaced to attack ships with their deck guns.

The fictional seaQuest DSV had camo.  lol   It was only above water only a handful of times in the entire series!  Even its berth was under water.

Have a fun day!

There's also some really weird things navies were trying to do with submarines.

The gigantic I-400 series of subs that could deploy 3 seaplanes.

Japanese submarine I-400

France has Surcouf, armed with 8" guns x2 as well as assorted cannons, MGs, and of course torpedoes.  Disappeared in 1942.

An interesting read is an account of a US Navy Submarine officer when the war ended.

https://web.archive.org/web/20051027100212/http://pacerfarm.org/i-400/

He talks having to round up examples that the USN wanted to examine like the Oxygen Torpedoes.  He took charge of I-400 to bring her to the US.  He also spoke with the interaction with IJN crew and officers and some interesting stories and experiences there.  He also met the CO of I-58 that sank USS Indianapolis.

Regarding the Oxygen torps and their volatility:  "High pressure oxygen whistled out around the oily torpedo, but there was no fire or explosion - that time.  It was far safer to go into combat armed with that mighty Japanese oxygen torpedo, though, than with our Bureau of Ordnance's poorly designed and inadequately tested Mark 14s and 18s, which sank at least two of our own submarines through lack of an anti-circular-run mechanism."

Wasn't she sunk by the USS Walker somewhere near Diego Garcia? :Smile_trollface:

Might be missing some obscure reference but I thought she "disappeared" in the Caribbean. Could have been "friendly" fire with a US ship.

Lol it's a fictional literary reference.

I believe one or more anthromorphic ring-tailed lemurs may have been on board the Walker when the incident occurred.....
