Such an unusual question. What do you mean by 'best'? Best looking? Everything at maximum. Best framerate? Everything at minimum. Best compromise? Well, that depends on your system.

That depends on your card, and the monitor. While processor speed is considered good in say 2.9 quad or 3.0+ hz in dual . Ram minimum requirements are listed for the game. you will need hard drive space too.

ISP connection is the last critical piece of the puzzle.

A clan mate recently put me on to the ability to enable image sharpening in nvidia 3d settings. Check it out. I've just enabled mine at default and it looks better to me.

Max Settings HOWEVER you'll need

  • GPU above GTX1080
  • CPU above I7 AND More the a quad
  • 32GB of ram to read all the graphics files correctly
  • Good connection to the servers..
  • 1TB of space is good..

If you have this setup... Go max setup on graphics...

If you dont... Then advise us of your gear and will give you the basics.

Depends on the other components not just the GPU...

GPU alone will not get you there...

I got 60+ fps at max settings at 1080p on my old i5 4590 and gtx 960, this game really isn't that hard to run well.

Hopefully, no  upgrades this year lert... If it still works after so much Graphics upgrades... No need in changing or fixing it.

Not everyone will be as fortunate as you...

It depends what resolution you want to run at, and what framerate you expect.

My old rig, an FX-6300/HD7790 2Gb/12Gb DDR3 RAM, would run a steady 45-55 FPS @ 720p.

My new one, a Ryzen 2700X/RX 580 2Gb/16Gb DDR4 RAM, will run the same FPS @ 4K.

I run it at 1440p and get a constant 60-61 FPS, (capped) because the GPU fans are a bit noisy for me at 4K.

All the above is at absolute max settings.

You definitely want an SSD though. I have a 500Gb, and I load in 30 seconds before match start.

Are you using a high refresh rate monitor ??? One thing is the hardware to manage the graphics load... Its another not having a monitor to display the awesome Work of the GPU.

120hz, so not the highest, but not the lowest either.

Its good enough... Not need for 144hz...

My curiosity gets the best of me but I have to ask... Why are you capped at 60hz in you have 120hz monitor ?

Because this particular game caps at 60 by default, and I've just never bothered to change it lol.

I have a 165hz monitor but my hardware only gets me consistently to around 140 fps. I could eke out a bit by disabling some of the animations especially the waves, but for me this is just the sweet spot.

Actually the cap is at 75 fps by default, I have a note on my monitor to change it back to 165 after every patch, because there is a huge difference for me visually since I went to a high refresh rate monitor from playing with the same monitor capped at 75 to my accustomed 140 fps. It just feels so much better on the eyes at the higher fps.

You tell him... Advise @Skpstr what he is missing out... You use the mod to change the Hz settings??? Or is it a different option/process?

I just change it in the sub folder by opening a file with word pad and changing the default max frame rate.

C:\Games\World_of_Warships\res\engine_config.xml

 <renderer>
        <cacheEffects>false</cacheEffects>
        <gammaCorrectionOutside>1.0</gammaCorrectionOutside>
        <gammaCorrectionInside>1.0</gammaCorrectionInside>
        <gammaCorrectionSpeed>0.2</gammaCorrectionSpeed>
        <tripleBuffering>true</tripleBuffering>
        <maxFrameRate>165</maxFrameRate>
        <enableTextureStreaming>true</enableTextureStreaming>
        <textureStreamingMode>0</textureStreamingMode>

I always thought the default was 60, but I never changed mine and am getting 75.  That explains why I am getting 75.

I run the exact same rig.  I do run the higher resolution and the fan on the card does ramp up while the game is on.  Since my rig sits in an audio/video cabinet, I actually have a temperature controlled exhaust cooling fan to get rid of heat for when the game is on.  I used to have a warning setting on the controller so I knew when the temperature started to climb.  I had to make it a much higher value, because a nominal high value got activated almost all the time.  I think I only get a notification now when the ambient air temperature in the cabinet goes past 40C.  I think I can heat my house just by playing WOWS.  That'll be my new excuse.  "Honey, I have to play World of Warships to keep the house warm".

There's some kind of cap at 75 I think too.

Yeah, I was scared I'd done something wrong when I built it, the Ryzen seems to be all over the map temp-wise, (30-70°C normal usage) and the GPU often hits a max of 76°C.

But according to Tom's, apparently that's normal and acceptable for stock cooling on those components lol.

Oops, I just noticed that I said "RX 580 2Gb", when it's actually 8Gb....

Lol I bet I still have VSync on, I used it when I was running the new PC on the old 720p 60hz TV.

I knew that you had the 8G card from another thread.  It never even clicked in my brain that you had put down 2G.  Apparently our brains only see part of what we think we see and it fills in the rest based on past experiences and knowledge.
