range and accuracy discussion

just wanted to trhow a topic to see people opinion about the evolution of range and accuracy of main guns and torpedos, low tier ships have  low range and questionable accuracy, this means they have a shorter effective area (cant cover 2 caps from the same place for instance) and require a more agresive playstyle. as tier increace so does range and accuracy and with it the stagnant gameplay with both forces sitting in concealment waiting for the enemy to enter their range wich in many cases is over 19km 

 

so whats better, lower range on all main guns and torpedos with most ships having mediocre  accuracy when shooting at max range  or the current state?

Increase the size of the maps.  Many ships could shoot to hit a target farther away than the border-to-border distance of maps in the game.

Restore ships to their original main battery ranges.

See how that plays out.  :-)

To evolve into a FFA arcade shooter they want to be, they must increase the dispersion and eliminate accuracy; loosen the hit box constraints; decrease torpedo effectiveness and increase detection ranges; and, do so without changing anything obviously......  Taking very small advantages away without making the Nerf'ing obvious and to spread out over an entire year or two to make those changes less obvious.   Like last year when the changed the Yamato's model.........uh huh, to make it more.........better???  They tinkered with it and now the Yammy isn't what it was......  More to follow.....

If this game was going to stay a quality combat oriented MMO, yes !  But, sadly, that isn't the plan, man !!  It's a FFA small map young adult arcade FFA shooter..........  First thing to go are accuracy and damages at distances because of range.

There's a thing called compression ingame that affects exactly things like range. Size and relative speed is another thing changed by compression too.

To go back to the OP, I would like to add that at lower tiers everyone overmatches almost everyone, either with HE or AP. That's a big factor affecting high tier gameplay.
