I'm so glad to see that WG really likes to enforce the chat ban on everybody, but keeps all the players that AFK in ranked still queueing in ranked... love your priorities

AFK is given a warning, granted a good warning... So good in fact, they come to the forums and complain about the system...

Adapt and over come... That is the essence must valued skill to master in Ranked...

Master it and you too can Rank out...

If a player is AFK in battle, they will get a disciplinary action against them.

If they continue to AFK, they will become orange and sent to co-op to work off the punishment.

yeah, and Im pretty sure that works as intended and also does consider people that starts playing 5-6 minutes into the game...

like the last guy I reported for being AFK, he queue right after and was in ranked once again.... being 6 minutes AFK wasnt an issue at all...

The problem is defining what is determined as "AFK".

Does the player just have a really slow computer loading into the match?  If so, that might cause a problem for the team but where is the threshold for punishment?  What is the correct "delay" after which to punish the player for having a slow computer?

Is the player simply not paying attention?  Maybe they loaded into the match in just a few seconds but got a phone call?  That can cause a problem for the team, for sure.  Again though, what is the time limit for required activity and who decides that?

The answer of course is WG.  The problem is, no matter what their decision, lots of people will have a problem with it.  They can't please everyone.

The player based punishment system, cannot punish a player over 1 report from another player.  If it did, people would abuse it and "punish" other players, for "lulz".  This is the internet.

If you give a player the "power" to really punish another player, they are going to click it until their mouse wears out.  Then they are going to go buy another one.

is pretty ez for them to know if a player joins the match or starts doing stuff 5 minutes after the match start, it shouldnt even need to be reported. they can auto punish

joining ranked with a slow machine or slow connection or whatever should automatically stop you from queueing rank for at least a day, repeating the infraction should ban you from that season of ranked.

WG doesn't "want" to punish players anymore than they have to.  Running off players from their game is really bad for business and the game.

I have played this game quite....a lot.  Do AFK players happen?  Yep, sure do.

Do they happen often enough to be a real problem, one that the community is super upset about?  No.  There isn't 12 threads right now complaining about droves and droves of a big nasty afk player problem.

It's prudent to keep in mind that in terms of ranked, those players that hit rank 1 every season, are doing it with the exact same player base that you are playing with.

And who gets to decide what constitutes a slow machine, a slow connection, or the catch all whatever you just described?

Chat bans are kinda like friendly torps.   They never hit if you don't fire them.

While AFKs come in all shapes and sizes and reasons, they're usually not intentional (wife, dog, kids, phone, etc.).   Can't say that with a chat ban.
