With the return of the High School Fleet Collection and the new Italian Collection on the horizon,  it seemed a good time to republish this updated post from last June.

If you are new to Collections or just need a refresher on some of their quirks, this is for you.

First, your Collections can be found under the Profile Tab in the game.  A new collection is either started by collecting an Element/Item in an Event Container or by completing a Campaign.  The rewards for completing Collections (sub-parts and overall) can include ships, premium time, special commanders, cosmetic effects, etc.

Second, there are a couple of Categories of Collections ...

  • Permanent ... these are activated by completing Campaigns ... examples are Yamamoto Isoroku and American Cruisers (Hit Hard, Hit Fast, Hit Often)
  • Unavailable ... end of contract/collaboration: the only example was High School Fleet but it has now returned
  • Events ... these include Collections created for and collected during special activities or promotions

Event Collections:  Initial items are collected via Missions or in related Event Containers ... After an event ends, additional collection items may:

  • continue to be available, but only if you have started the Collection (i.e. collected at least 1 event item) and they are subscriptions (see below) or
  • be made available again through
  • otherwise they are
    • Inactive ... an example is Belle Epoque As of this writing, all Inactive Event Containers, except Belle Epoque, are available in the Armory.

Collection Subscriptions:  This is a special designation for Collections and applies to any collection that can be set to "Collecting" or "Don't Collect".  The Permanent collections as well as the ones marked "Yes" in the table below are Subscriptions. Only 1 Subscription Collection can be active (collecting) at a time. A Subscription Collection will always be available for you to Collect (as long as you have collected at least 1 item) and can drop items in any Daily Container.

Duplicate Collection Items:  As you collect unique items to complete a collection you will find that you get duplicates of some items.  Duplicates can be used to "purchase" items you don't have; it normally takes 4 or 5 duplicates to purchase a new unique item.  This is done by clicking on a missing item and confirming a purchase. You should not buy any new items until you have enough duplicates to purchase ALL missing items.  If you are working on a Subscription Collection and are not in a hurry to complete it, you can let the duplicates build up until the collection ultimately completes from unique items only.  All the duplicates that remain after a collection is completed are automatically converted to Credits; a common rate is 15,000 to one.

Sometimes WG will say a collection like Belle Epoque is "permanent".  All I can assume is this means items will be made available again ... SoonTM

edits:

  • The "Active" column in the Table indicates the approximate dates the Event was active for collecting items via event containers or missions
  • Added placeholder for future Shipbuilding Collection in Table
  • Added examples of Subscription and non-Subscription Collections
  • Added Table Column for Percentage of Subscription Collections
  • Added Table Column for Main Collection Reward
  • Updated Table for KOTS and Bad Advice Collections

Thanks.

There is a typo in the spreadsheet. Naval aviation should be 0.8.1, as 0.9.X has not yet happened.

Thanks, really useful!

How you tell if a Collection is of the Subscription type? I mean at the release date?

When you get your first Collection Item, it will Activate the Collection ... you can then look at it and see if it has the Options to Collect or Don't Collect.

If you mean before anyone has started it?, you can only read and interpret what is said about it in the Announcement.

The prior 2 Birthday Collections were made available for purchase in the Armory about a year after their release.

December 20th will mark a year since the Belle Epoque collection was first released ... I would think it's possible they could be made available around that time ...

... but I have no inside knowledge of when or if.
