We have all heard of Paul Allen's research group and the R/V Petrel that do outstanding work finding the lost war ships of ww2.

There is another amazing research group that are doing outstanding work trying to locate the missing USA submarines from ww2.  They are called the "Lost52Project" whose sole purpose is to find the missing WW2 USA submarines.  So far they have located nine:

  • USS Grunion (SS-216) - August 2018 / 2006  Kiska, Alaska
  • USS S-28 (SS-133) -September 2017  Honolulu, Hawaii]
  • USS S-26 (SS-131) - September 2014  Pacific Panama
  • USS R-12 (SS-89) - October 2010  Key West, Florida
  • USS Flier (SS-250) - May 2009 Palawan Island
  • USS Lagarto (SS-371) - May 2006  Gulf of Thailand
  • USS Wahoo (SS-238) - July 2006  La Peruse Strait, Russia/Japan
  • USS Perch (SS-176) - November 2006  Java Sea
  • USS Grayback (SS-208) - November 2019  Off Japan
