Should also be noted here that if the HSF collaboration ever comes to an end, she'll be a very rarified premium as well, like the ARP ships that many missed out on.

It was thought to have come to an end in September 2018, wasn't it? I'm not sure anyone outside Head Office yet knows what happened to allow this ship to return.

Did something related to the torpedoes change too? The original review mentions different amounts of torpedo firepower between the hull choices. Was TRB not an option for all 3 hulls before, while now it is? That's just a guess.

I believe the permacamo effects have all been normalized as well, so that the normal, non-anime permacamo now has the same economic benefits, which may be the straw that breaks the camel's back in terms of swinging purchase decisions.

So of the HSF commanders, 4 have specializations for this ship.  From the way LWM breaks down the hull configurations to what seems to be 3 different versions, maybe optimizing a captain for each configuration makes sense, but 4?  I might be missing something about why all 4 are specialized with this ship.

Doesn't really matter anyway since you will be able to use IJN commanders in Harekaze afaik.

In Thea Kreutzer's case, she's actually a German commander.  So she could be trained to command your Bismarck or Hindenburg or whatever.  However, she could still be assigned to Harekaze as a trainer.  Similarly, the other girls can use HSF Graf Spee as a trainer, despite them being Japanese commanders and Graf Spee being a German-flagged ship.

I likely will too.  Just sucks my 30% anniversary coupon doesn't apply to that already discounted bundle.

I have no issues with CV games in it.  I run 100mm guns with my 19pt Akizuki, Kitakazi or Harugumo Captain...

    I've had Harekaze for 2 plus years now.. yea I only have a 48% win rate in her.  The tiniest HP pool in the tier is a real pain but hey!  Some very very fast DD's out there and those shells slow down real fast at range.  learn to zoom out a hair so you can actually aim at the target.   On the other hand I also have well over 4 million XP accumulated on her.  SO yea, Imma fan of Harekaze.

    She is THE most versatile DD in the game in my not so humble opinion.  I fear nothing in her.  Kleber a piffle, Kidd, Black mearly trouble some.. Mogador if I catch her first she'll feel it.  Even with only 10k torps she can hang quite well in a tier X fight

Lemmie give you a piece of advice from a 4 year vet of the game...

GET IT NOW!

I've over 4 mil XP accumulated on mine and it's rare that it doesn't get played every day.   She is my single most utterly favorite ship in the game.  You can play sneaky.  You can play aggressive.  You can be a close escort.. you can be THE scout.  In the escort role she's a very effective "light" AA boat.. if your running with another ship that has any sort of reasonable AA cv's will stay away from you.. you AA is mostly long range.. 4 single mount 25mm's for your close range..  

The 4-10 hull with the 100mm's is the most versatile of the hulls.  The  last hull with the US guns is just a little weak over all, but good rate of fire and very fast traverse on the turrets.

I and others have written numerous strat and tactics guides over in the https://forum.worldofwarships.com/forum/153-japanese-destroyers/ section so do paruse them.  most of em are still current, with the caveat that HE pen changed after most were written so eye ball the dates of the original posts and take it into account.

Good Luck, and good hunting.. You will enjoy this ship once you get the hang of here vulnerabilities.  and your going to have to play very carefully around radar ships.   She is a tint target and more often then not the difficulty of hitting you will be the only thing that saves you.

I already have the Harekaze, but I am glad to see her back in shop for those that missed her.  No Kitty Captain though.  Think we had to earn the Cat captain but its been awhile.  At least that's who I have captaining mine.

Since her initial release (patch 0.6.7):

 

  • Torpedo Reload Booster active time (time to fast-load a torpedo) reduced from 30s to 8s (patch 0.6.8)
  • Type 10 camouflage received +100% free experience bonus (patch 0.6.8)
  • "Isoroku" camouflage pattern added (patch 0.7.0)
  • Penetration for HE shells from 4-10 hull increased. (patch 0.7.7)
  • HE shells from 1-4 hull increased damage from 1,800 to 2,150 (patch 0.7.11.1)
  • Fire chance on HE shells from 1-4 hull increased from 7% to 9% (patch 0.7.11.1)
  • Continuous AA changes (patch 0.8.0 to present).

I'll pitch in my 2 cents on the greatness of Harekaze. She's probably the only proper gunship-torpedoboat hybrid in the game. Even though we now have other newer Premium IJN DD's on the scene, Harekaze remains solid, IMO. :Smile_Default:

You have to seriously misplay for this to be a problem. Harekaze has such a massive stealth over Daring or the French boats.

Jutland can be an issue, but with the gun layout  you can make a chase an expencive proposition for them.

I LOVE the short gun range. I exploit the crap out of the bloom mechanics with that.

My problem is that I keep playing it too aggressively.

The 11-12 guns really needs a buff at this point in time. A reload buff would be great,like a 2.5sec or even 3 sec reload.
