If two or more teams are co-operating to take down the Rasputin and its escorts, switching off those secondaries in order not to damage the people you are trying to help removes a significant amount of those ships' firepower. Granted, most of it is in their torpedoes, but every little bit can sometimes make the difference - especially when you are trying to dodge the bot Mutantovsks and are waiting for your torps to reload. It robs all the cruisers and battleships of a significant proportion of their firepower too, but at least they still have their main guns to work with. I wonder if this problem can be worked around by use of the Manual Fire Control for Secondaries skill. Has anyone done this or is willing to give it a shot? I don't have the Clan Battles free re-spec or I'd try it out for myself.

I wish I'd thought of that before, but I didn't have enough time to really give it a good thrashing out in PTS and I hadn't realised the implications until now. Use mansecs to farm filth. Got it. Just don't say it aloud out of context. Edited November 6, 2019 by Ensign_Cthulhu

Mutantovsk doesn't have this conundrum.

13 [FERAL] JayRow2018 Members 92 posts 5,917 battles Report post #10 Posted November 6, 2019 I decided to not put any cpt pts on my BB captains until I played a few battles to get a feel for the ship. Since the truce concept happened, I'm glad I waited. The secondaries did enough damage before, but now I can still use them. I wish WG did not charge the 300 doubloons to purchase the other ships. I'll just have to play the lowest teir ships, my doubloons are too valuable for me to give away on a temporary ship. I'd rather spend them on permo camos. You're not buying the ships; you're buying port slots to put them in if you don't already have enough. And you would keep the port slots. You're also going to get to keep the port slots you got for the original three; WG's way of making it up to us.

If you have a tech tree port queen to sell, you can free up a slot. Did the Ensign ninja me? Edit: Yes. Edited November 6, 2019 by DrHolmes52

Ha, I knew that, just checkin to see who would reply first. No really, thanks for the reply and clarification. I didn't realize that I ran out of slots with I bought my last ship lol. I feel like and idiot.

325 Sou1forge Members 663 posts 5,969 battles Report post #15 Posted November 6, 2019 Don’t think you really need CE, so yeah manual secondaries is a pretty good pick. Also on BBs Last Stand is worthwhile IMO. If you want to farm filth from the late mutantovsks it’s doable, but you risk having your rudder and engine blown out with DCP down, and to be honest, it’s not like any of the ships are really hurting for captain points. This thread has a starting post talking about destroyers and for those CE is a must. For battleships, CE is a waste of captain points. I would have to experiment and evaluate further before I can say for cruisers.
