I read that some veterans don't feel entitled to extra benefits because they don't want extra recognition for service they were proud to perform. I'm a Vietnam veteran and I didn't volunteer, but responded when my country called.  Soldiers in that era were subjected to public scorn and ridicule, whether volunteer or not. During my civilian career when I traveled for work I was proud to see current soldiers get ovations in airports and be given premium seats and exit times in airplanes.  I'm happy to see any veteran be recognized for their service, because whether volunteer or not, they sacrificed for the common good of the people of their country.  Thank you, WOWS.

Believe it or not a lot of veterans that entered service after Vietnam Veterans, we were taught your history,  both in combat and the shaming received when you came back to U.S.. As a Veteran, I was and am proud of each and every Vietnam Veteran, your service and courage through combat and adversity at home. Please know that fellow veterans that came after you know your sacrifice and am proud we are ALL in an exclusive club and can be called "Veterans".

Yeah, it was a nice gesture, but that boat is more of a kick in the [edited] than a thank you. I would be more grateful if i can put that camo on any ship. You can even take back the boat.

Heyo everyone,

We once again, thank all of our Military members across all branches and nations for their service. We are pleased so far with the successful launch of this initiative and hope to work even closer with our Veterans in the future.

Fem,

I don't post much but just wanted to say thank you for the Ship, The cammo, The Captain, and the recognition,

U.S. Army 1986-1996

As a US Navy Vet I appreciate the efforts by WG to recognize Vets. Just because WG is Russian or Belarussian company, it is doing business in North America and wants to be relevant to their customers here. Nothing wrong with that.

And as far as Albany and her camo - I love that little ship... it is fun as hell to play, the camo looks nice and distinctive on it, and when I want a break from the strategic mindfulness required of T8-10 battles, it is nice to have Albany to play in the lower tiers where it is just simple shoot 'em up fun.

Thanks again WG, and never mind the whiners, most of whom aren't even Vets.

Not sure if this was covered, but the news claims CAF is also eligible, but I only see US Military related identity confirmations? Kind of got the rug pulled out from under me, here, after I assumed I was gonna get some low-tier swag.

I agree 100% with the first statement.

The 2nd is still up in the air - I've only played it a few times, and it's...well...it's low tier...what do you expect?

Third, I also appreciate the gesture from WarGaming.

Signed,

US Navy Veteran, AT2 (AW), that served '86-'95 and was aboard USS Forrestal for her last 2 deployments, with the last deployment during Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

Bumping this, any direction how CAF members can take advantage of this?

Are we talking the non-military Commemorative Air Force?

CAF meaning Canadian Armed Forces. You can sign up for an ID.me account using a CFone number and I think some other CF identifications too. CFone was what worked for me.

(Wish we had got Haida as a gift as that's OUR ship ;-) Or at least the Canadian flag permacamo to stick on Albany. But I'm not complaining, Albany is a fun little critter at T2!)

I was up for my first star a couple of times but I stood no chance because I was on medical hold my last two years in service, and then was medically discharged :(

TBH, I can't speak to too many other nations militaries, but for us we are looking for a clear, secure good way for us to recognize veterans with a program that is secure that can verify that service. ID.me specifically has been used for years with veterans organizations and active DOD to verify service for the US and Canada (and I believe they are working to spread their connections further).

As you can imagine this is VERY difficult to do, I will tell you I personally am looking for ways to expand this because I completely understand, at least on the NA server side almost all of LATAM and South America is being excluded as well as our friends in AUS and NZ that play on NA unfortunately.

Mahalo,

-Hapa

Don’t get me wrong wounded warrior program is excellent . I’ve even donated  to them in the past . But the way I read some news sometimes it feels like it’s always geared to the USA players only

That reminds me, I still haven't received my USS Kansas T-shirt for coming in 4th place in the January event.  So over four months.  Is there someone specific I need to address this matter to?

I just re-checked and the same id.me link that's verified me here in the past didn't grant the award this year...
