Hit rates were in the single-digit percentages. As for reloads, it wasn't something that you tried to do in surface combat, at all. To the point that Japanese destroyers were the only ones in the war that even carried reloads on-board. Trying to align, hoist, move, and arm very large high explosive weapons in the middle of a fire-fight is NOT a good idea.

Using self propelled artillery on land alone, even in modern times, is hard enough. Hitting objects at sea at a reasonable distance I imagine is a lot harder for both shells and torpedoes.

IRL Normally torpedoes were reloaded at port only, and carrying all tubes full was excepcional. Reloading a torpedo tube was a complex procedure involving a crane (clearly visible in french DDs) and a lot of pleople and time.

Japanese ships would sometimes dump their torpedoes overboard when expecting air attacks - imagine that “historical feature” in the game :cap_fainting:Look up Mogami and Mikuma at Midway for the effects of keeping vs dumping torpedoes:cap_yes:

There are a few real sub guys on this forum that could comment if they chose to....  Having been given a tour of a sub tender..........well, rearming at sea would be a nightmare.  There are videos of German subs doing so in WW2 out there.....  Wow.

Some ships had "ready racks", armored ready racks with loading troughs that aligned with the armored torpedo tube cells....  I would imagine that took at least 30 minutes to roll five one ton torps into the tubes and charged the systems to launch them....

Maybe, they'll jump into this.
