I would also be worried about the upcoming Italian line and their SAP shells.

@LittleWhiteMouse, what caliber are those guns?  Is this a light cruiser or heavy?  I've not been following Yahagi at all. Thanks and +1 for the quickie super quick review...

It's a light cruiser with 6 152 mm guns

A CL! I am a CL fanatic so I'm a gonna git her and have some fun.

I've gotten Exeter because I have Graf Spee and she is a fun ship at any tier.

Thanks all, for the answer.

Wow, those torpedo firing arcs, though...

Just like Yubari but with 2 times the range. With a detection of 9.9 she is able to stealth torp and throw a little confusion in the OpFor. I'm for her, no matter how squishy. CL's are just fun.

Took one battle with a 19 point captain to convince me that she will never leave port again.

Her torpedos have potential, especially you can launch them from 12km. But they have some flashlights and sirens on top, so every captain can easy use the wasd hax.

RoF is far to low to make up for only 6 152mm guns.

Armor is meh.

You cannot escort a DD with your excellent stealth because you don’t have the RoF to impress any Other ship he spots.

The only good thing:

She was build for real and the last ship that Tameichi Hara was captain on.

Seems like they missed an opportunity to allow ASM0 on a ship that can also mount ASM1.

4 games so far.  Speed's nice.  The rudder must be made out of balsa wood or something, because it breaks when the ship gets touched by anything, even with SGM1 and Preventive Maintenance.  Currently running Torp Acceler. ( have a DD admiral assigned).   Hits hard, but those aiming arcs...

Not sure about the guns.   They feel really weird, like wet noodles.

Gameplaywise overall, Exeter and Furutaka still feel better to play.

As a tester of Yahagi, I wasn't impressed. With only six guns and only average cruiser dispersion, I found it rather unrewarding of good aim, and the AP is useless.

Those torpedoes look PERFECT for the drive-by attacks you won't live long enough to deliver.

Give her ASM0 and you might make her worth my money. Otherwise, no. I would rather spend the extra and buy Yuudachi, and that's saying something.

Ironically, they work perfectly for that, so long as you present your full broadside to a not HE-spamming battleship at stupid close ranges.  For example, Warspite is physically incapable of citadelling you inside of 8km or so.  Her shells don't fuse fast enough to blow up inside your citadel if they hit you at a perfect broadside at those ranges.  You're super-dead if they catch you slightly angled, though.

Price was a bit enticing, sounded pretty good for a Light Cruiser and I was seriously considering adding this ship to my fleet.   Then LWM saved my money with her great snap review exposing all the "hype" as simply hype.    So ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU LWM for all you do for this game for players from poor to Unicum's.    You are the definitive researcher, analyzer, and reporter of WoWs ships in a manner that is absolutely trustworthy because time after time you have refused to shill for WoWs and told us the unvarnished truth.

Hoping your recovery is continuing and you are not pushing yourself too hard.    I'd much prefer waiting, even seeing you retire from your arduous labor of love than to see you harm your recovery or your long-distance health picture.

Nice.  The torps are designed for suicide-diving battleships,  ships-of-the-line style.  In a CL.

That thin citadel armor got me thinking about Smolensk since the latter’s citadel armor is so thin that high caliber shells “overpen” it. (Since fuse time isn’t fast enough) So if Warspite’s shells can’t fuse in time, can the same strategy be used when dealing with other ships?

Plus, you might want to mention Yahagi is a Tier 5 in the review proper.
