Using a Fiji.. My latest games are only 35k to 42k damage, and I made it till the end. My stats really suck, sink very few ships but will damage several mostly due to team mates taking the last shot after I have all but killed them. Almost like they sit back and wait until one salvo will send enemy ship back to port. Usually BBs do this from long distance.

if you can not beat them join them... but I warn you now your mileage will vary from the assumption in that comment.

Not really sure where I see that you "overcame" anything.  Is this because you were bottom tier and your team won?  You realize that happens in every - single - match ...right?  Someone has to win (unless its a draw I guess).  Congrats though on...winning?  :cap_like:

start by reading and watching videos that will teach you the mechanics of the game. visit the Wiki, and watch the wg "how stuff works" series... these will give you a huge advantage right away.

Have done that, it helped me suck less but that's about it. Have worked hard on aiming , have improved that 400%, changing to dynamic made the big difference there. My biggest problem is I seem to get spotted all the time, even in smoke from more than 6k. And I don't sit but move around in it. Do most t8 and t9 ships have radar? If I sit behind an island it usually blocks me from shooting and makes me a target for torps from t9 DD's that seem to be able to get in very close without me detecting, launch spread, and get away without me ever seeing them.

I have tried out BBs, and do better in them but find them somewhat boring with long reload times etc. Plus I don't steal kills unless friendly in very low on health or in a bad situation. I figure if they have the balls to duke it out with another ship for an extended period, they deserve the kill. I know how much I dislike it when someone steals one of mine, so I just don't do it. I guess I have more of a team player mentality?

You've only got 80 random battles over your belt.  It takes lots of time and experience to get better.  The good players are still learning and improving after hundreds and even thousands of battles.  This is a complicated game and it's not well documented.

There is no kill stealing in World of Warships and anyone who seriously complains about you stealing a kill is not thinking tactically.

If you let an enemy ship live for just one more second so a more "deserving" player can earn the kill, he may get off one more gun or torpedo salvo.   And that salvo could change the course of the game.  Or even worse, he could disappear from view in that one second.  If he's got a heal he could come back later in much better shape.  If he's a destroyer he could spend the rest of the game launching torpedoes without being spotted.

Always get the kill when you have the chance.

OP, to add on to this, if you do most of the damage, you get most of the XP and credits for the kill.

Hello again!

Firstly, some of the time you will be bottom tier, some of the time you will be middle tier, and some of the time you will be top tier.

Being bottom tier isn’t inherently bad. For instance, no one expects you to carry the entire team to victory, so no pressure. You get higher rewards in XP for damaging higher tier ships.

But, you do need to make adjustments to your play if you are bottom tier. Typically, you have to play a bit more passively, because you can’t just wade into the fight like a top tier ship can. And you should be looking to actively support your higher tier ships more, take their lead, so you aren’t alone and the only thing for the enemy to shoot at.

It sounds like you are already doing these things if you are surviving to the end of the match. Remember, the longer you live the stronger you get and the weaker your enemies get, as they have less HP, fewer teammates to screen for them, and depending on how the points are progressing they at be forced to directly contest a cap in a low HP battleship so you can torp them (or use guns if they are more than 4.7km away or whatever your smoke firing detection range is).

As long as you are doing your job - which in a Fiji means usually killing enemy destroyers and taking opportunistic shots at everything else - then it doesn’t matter if you are top or bottom tier. Over time, take control of your winrate and don’t be a victim of MM or bad teams through self-improvement.

Finally, getting the kill ribbon is not particularly important. Sure, it adds a bit to XP and boosts your stats on paper, but really the thing that matters is that the enemy is dead sooner so can’t fire back. I’ve seen plenty of enemies with their dying breath fire one last salvo that killed a friendly because no one took their last 500 HP off in time. Try thinking about it as ‘kill securing’ rather than ‘kill stealing’ and leave the dark thoughts towards your team for their genuine errors :-)

Hope that helps!

Ummm, why are you taking photos of your screen when you can just hit the "print screen" key in WoWS and save a screen shot to the "screen shots" folder under the main WoWS game folder?

Focus firing is a team mechanic that you need to learn.... put aside what you expect this game to be and learn about how the game really is.  This game has game mechanics for balance and fun. please take time to read the wiki, and watch videos.

.... and to drive the point home, I will paraphrase a fellow poster...

Frigate - Focus fire will become very evident as you round out your first 1.5k games. if you make it there. Happy hunting. GL HF o7

When I'm bottom-tiered in a match and my opponents get a silly advantage because of way better ships; I stick to one of the high tier ships and provide as much support as I can. I can like win duels with ships above my tier and have sank ships 2 tiers above me but really; you have to play much harder than they do.

I don't agree with the uptiering-downtiering system but its here to stay; you just need to play way more carefully and way harder than the folks in higher tier ships in that match. Its not very entertaining because I've been doing this sort of crap in other games for over 10 years and I'd prefer to have even fights where no one  gets a silly advantage but that's how the devs have deigned this to work.

Use that uber-BB as cover and burn out/disable his targets crap, blow off DDs that come after him; get behind him and maybe eat a few shells if he tries to retreat. You've got to support the big boys when you are getting out-tiered like that.

C:\Games\World_of_Warships_NA\screenshot  if you are using the client installer.

If you are using Steam, its C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\142708629\760\remote\552990\screenshots  or something of the sort; just use the program itself and scroll down on the game to find your screenshot section

If you are using Mac; I haven't used that since the late 90's; not sure how they do their thing.

Thanks, does the client installer download with the game?

The client installer is what you would have if you didn't download from Steam. If you are using Steam; getting to the screenshots is even easier. I don't actually recall what the default Steam screenshot button is because I use numpad 5 to SS; but I'm pretty sure its f10 or f12.

So for example

k7lqULu.jpg

I play from the Client but I have a copy of the Steam game installed for.....some reason. But this is where you'd find your screenshots. Name is only censored because the word would be cut off on these forums normally.
