Lol after playing some tanks earlier today, and thinking as I was playing man just imagine if ships like Smolensk had to pay 1k to 2k+ credits per shell they fired to have them resupplied... If it was the same cost across all ships it would be fine for ships that fire more slowly, but those rail gun Firing ships would sure be a little less popular....

Not really serious about this idea, but it is a hilarious thought. Just imagine if that were added and somebody went into battle, spammed thousands of shells the entire battle, then learned about that new feature post battle... :Smile_veryhappy:

It scares me that people actually voice possible ways to make playing the game less fun.   :cap_tea:

Well at least BBs, Heavy CAs, and torpedo boat DDs would be fine if Shell Costs were the same across the board for all warships at a given tier. Keep the torpedo costs free lol.

Big shells slowly fired cost more per shell, small shells rapidly spewed cost less per shell.  It all comes out relatively equal.  Torps cost credits too...

I could be wrong (failing old guy memory) and I'm sure someone will correct me but...    IIRC this was a thing sometime ago and had an impact on servicing costs.

This?

I thought they used to, but that was changed when the service cost was standardized?

It's still a thing. It's a small amount but already present ingame.

IIRC hull repair costs are standardized by ship and tier, but ammo is its own separate cost like aircraft costs for CVs.

yep...  I just didn't think that changed based on the number of shells fired now.    I stopped looking at service costs in detail after it was standardized/normalized some patches ago (2 years?).   Learn something new every day.

Shells do cost credits. So do torpedoes.

One torpedo broadside from a Shimakaze costs like 40k credits.

I'm working off memory. Someone else is gonna have to verify the actual numbers.

I'm not sure you understand what "rail gun" actually means when it is being used to describe guns in warships.

Look on the post-battle screen sometime.

This honestly. People should freely post but dang, a little awareness, just a little.

Not so much saving cost but I just want to make my shots, shell and torp, count and not waste them.

But then I take out the DeGrasse or Nuevo de Julieo and ,oh well.

I assume he means putting the Gustov onto a ship and using it at sea.

There are good reasons, rooted in history, why a 5"/38 shell from (say) a Fletcher costs less per round than the 16" AP from an Iowa.

On the other hand, if your Benson or Fletcher could load proximity-fuzed ammo... yeah, that could change things.

Can you imagine large-calibre flak bursts suddenly becoming several times more efficient overnight? Now imagine a Neptune spewing that out, from ALL its guns.

This ^^

To add, this is where CV aircraft are piled in also, and it can be quite significant in credit losses.  From a Midway co-op game:

kAVzjdT.jpg

121.6k credit loss.  Perma-Camo, anything with Service cost reduction doesn't affect Ammunition resupply, so this can pile up real big.

this is why some people should not make threads BEFORE doing a little research....

not to mention the fact that
#1 THIS IS NOT WOT
#2 Tanks shoot ONE SHELL AT A TIME... SHIPS, up to 12???

With 713,XXX,XXX credits I welcome that proposal. It totally supports vet players.
