Saw this today, and lord the Islands of Ice Map needs to be returned to this...

WOWS is a position game... Individual ship tactics or the skill of the cpt in tactics with out OP/over-capable ships, Is dead since 2018.

IMO, its not the map... Its the in-game conditions of

  • the type of ships, their capabilities, the over capable threats faced,
  • changing tactics.
  • limited threat variety

As long as WOWS learn to balance again.... 2017 is probably the best times of the game.

Its not the map.... Its the ships, the tactics, and the limited threats faced.

The map can return HOWEVER, the situations described faced in the map.... That is gone, never to return..

Old school Islands of Ice was an awesome map.  The replacements of that map we've had since have been hot garbage.  Hell, the maps for high tier in general are hot garbage.

I loved that, actually.  We had to play aggressive to seize those forts.  Team play was needed.  DDs would get massacred by the forts and enemy ships, so Battleships had to hammer forts and suppress them temporarily, so that cappers can cap them and the team would take control.  The goal was to take something like 2/3 caps and get an anchor of bastion forts and hold the line.  Aggressive play was a MUST.
