Got on line this morning found a post by @Hermetica who has real concerns about animal welfare and in particular Sam the Cat and it made me wonder have WG contacted such organisations like the RSPCA or Humane Society International or even Animal Humane Society I'm certain these groups have a digital entertainment division for just such a situation.

Has these organisations been informed at what Sam will have to endure, officers on site to Vet and supervise all in game safety regulations regarding animal treatment.

Could @Umbaretz please clarify whether all safety standards were observed.

regards

Don't forget PETA.

Maybe a small "No animals were harmed in this battle" at the end of the match will do.

People love cats. I dont know why, unless they hate the rest of nature. Cats are the second worst ecological disaster after humans.

Only in a few places.  In others, the lack of big cats is doing a number on the balance of the fauna, much like the lack of wolves.

And I'd be careful who you insult.  Domestic cats are well on their way to conquering the world, one human at a time.  Hail our new overlords!

Ask the old Egyptians about their opinion on cats.

English law, in the medivial age, asked for a compensation, if someone killed a cat. If she was good at hunting mice, you had to pay a pile of the grain as high, as the cats lenght from nose to the tip of her tail.

It's not their fault, that they are predators.

It's humans, that spread them all around the world.

Screw PETA, they have caused far more harm then help to animals. Knowing them they will do something anyway. Look what they did to poor Wooloo.

Which is ironic as hell because shearing is actually good for sheep.

Seriously, you think after the Steve Irwin thing they would have learned.

Fanatics will never learn, They will twist the words in your mouth.

And if they run out of arguments, they star calling you facist. Or a socialist. Or a unbeliever. Or liberal, always depending on their own believe.

True. Dosen't make it any less funny when the Internet tears them a new one. Maybe someone should troll PETA into going after it, just for the laughs (I kid, nobody do it).

Domestic and feral cats kill billions (with a B) of birds in the US alone each year. They're responsible for almost 3 dozen bird species gone extinct. Having said that, I like cats because if their "fork you" attitude. But all of my cats have been indoor.

As you may know, I'm a big fan of a cat rescue organization in Bc, Canada.  They specialize in rescuing and managing (TNR) feral cats.  They hate PETA.

PETA doesn't seem to understand that populations in the wild are managed by either predation or starvation.  If they kill the killers (as they advocate) then all the cute little prey animals will achieve equilibrium by starvation, taking the environment down with them.  PETA has feels, but PETA has no brains.

I've heard the same numbers (2-4 billion) for tall builds and lights at night.  I've seen the carnage among birds cause by well-lit glass buildings.  You can walk around the base and pad your birding log.  Wind generators do the same, 24/7.  Anyone crying out against these?

So true. While wolves are coming back here, right wings and farmers already start to spread panic how evil they are. Even forest rangers would welcome them, they cannot hunt as many deers, stags and boars as needed.

A few years ago, I had the chance to cuddle with real tigers. It was awesome, to place my head on his chest and feel him breathing. And it hurts, that they have nearly no chance to survive outside of zoos anymore.

The domestication is the "problem". We like our furballs and protect them, including vaccination. There are enough cats diseases, that reduce their lifespan. But we expand their short live multiple times.

Ohh you are right. I was talkking about the domesticated cat. But yeah as far as your second statement - I really can't wait for the robots to take over. We've proven we are bad at the planet running business.

Sure. I don't blame smallpox for doing what it does either, but if people had it as a pet, I'd be like wth.

Diseases usually get the older cats (feline distemper kills all ages and is horrible).  Domestic cats are *fed*.  The have little need to hunt, except for their own amusement, and take a small fraction of the prey of self-supporting cats.  In the wild, the real balancing agents are, as above, predation and starvation.  Also, a primary killer among all cats is dental problems.  Without teeth they can't kill.

Don't get me wrong.  There are places where domestic cats just don't belong, like the islands where felines are not a natural part of the ecology.  But in most of the world, the ecology is already balanced against cat, and we've unbalanced it not by keeping cats, but by destroying their controls, notable larger predators.

Why would PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) care?  Most people don't eat cat, at least on this side of the world.
