Whilst trying to find info on the Super Lion class battleship (and failing pretty badly) which was mentioned in KGB's blog, I stumbled upon this PDF file:

http://www.alnavco.c...tors series.pdf

It's written by a Guy called Wayne Smith, apparently a consultant to Alnavco, a company which makes and sells tiny 1:1200 miniature model warships. He writes briefly about a lot of battleships and battlecruisers which didn't exist...and er...Vanguard for some reason. Try not to look at the images of the miniatures though because they look like they've been edited by a 8-year old to include explosions.

It's the only vaguely legitimate looking thing I've found which has info on the 'Super Lion' design, and I didn't even know such a thing as a Tillman IV-2 was possible.

You will need to have adobe reader installed, but hope you enjoy the read,

If anyone ever put my name on a photo that bad along with the words "superior photograph", I would demand that my friends confiscate and smash all of my photographic equipment in the name of World Peace.   :Smile_sceptic:

That's why I said try to avoid looking at the awful images of 1:1200 miniature ships with explosions drawn in with microsoft paint. Just read the text. :Smile-_tongue:

Never heard of the Super Lion either. A good source for old USA ships is www.globalsecurity.org. They have an extensive library. You can only look at a few pages at a time before they ask you to pay.

+1

I didn't have time when I posted the PLUS, earlier.  Beyond the scope of the post, the firepower formations gives credence to close support for battle groups, something that will be very useful for fleet operations, imho.
