Please add this ship and PLEASE do it justice, she's earned it.

New Jersey earned the Navy Unit Commendation for Vietnam service. She has received nine battle stars for World War II; four for the Korean conflict; and two for Vietnam, and three Campaign Stars for service off Beirut, Lebanon and service in the Persian Gulf, prior to Operation Desert Storm. With a total of Nineteen Battle and Campaign Stars, New Jersey is America’s most decorated battleship and surviving warship.

We have Iowa and Missouri. I would not be surprised if New Jersey and Wisconsin make it in at some point.

They seem to mostly be concentrating on paper ships that most people don't even know about by this point. But with the recent announcement of the California, other historical USN battleships such as the New Jersey would probably be added into the game at some point.

The only reasonable argument against adding the New Jersey is the number of premium ships already in the game. The NJ would have to be a T9 to join her sisters.

While the history of the NJ does say it should be in the game, the situation is not right IMO.

To differentiate her from the others I suggest WG equip her with the some of the missiles she carried at the end. :Smile_glasses:

They could offer a skin for the New Jersey and Wisconsin at T9 if you would prefer one of them over the Iowa.

She could be the T9 in the secondary-focused USN BB split with the Nevada, Tennessee, and Washington.

@Capt_Drac I will not go into detail but the Iowa tech tree ship would represent the entire class just as other tech tree ships do.

Since this is a game spawned from someone's imagination you should use yours and imagine Iowa is your NJ.

4 Iowa class battleships were built.  2 of them (50%) are present in game.

There were 175 Fletcher class destroyers built.  Only 4 of them (2.29%) are present in game.

Clearly we need more Fletchers before we add another Iowa.

The Iowas are very viable tier ten ships, with some improvements in shell damage, or travel time, maybe reload, or added health.

In terms of destructive power per salvo, they were on par with Yamato and the likes. I feel a t10 Iowa with harder hitting shells but that classic weak American armor could easily add that true battlecruiser hit-and-run gameplay to the tier ten scene.

I wouldn't mind NJ as a tier ten. She's certainly earned it, you're right.

oh boy another iowa. and their prototype design, and their "what if" follow up designs and their "what if we add 3x2 guns on it" iowa and their "missile launcher platform design" and the hybrid bb/cv iowa.

MAYBE they could add the Ice Cream Barge, that was a real ship and EXTREMELY important to the sailors.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_cream_barge

or MAYBE USS wolverine.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Wolverine_(IX-64)

but no,we need another boomer power fantasy iowa class battleship.

I tihnk NJ is in the works, but she is awaiting creation of a special, yet-to-be-thought-of gimmick to set her apart before a release can be set.

With all the balancing issues with the CV rework, the introduction of subs with overshadow the CV rework in balancing issues and you want to add another??????

Disagree.  I think that it's perfectly reasonable to argue that once a ship's class is in the tech tree, there's no reason to create a clone of one of its sister ships to add to the game as a premium.  Personally, I wish that  there were no clones ships in the game.  All they're doing with clones is leveraging existing ship models so that they can make money off of them, rather than creating something new.

As a native of New Jersey and having been onboard the ship, it would be nice. Although how would you differentiate between Iowa and Missouri? Obvious difference is through secondaries, making NJ a secondary Iowa. Works fine, until you see Georgia does that at the same tier.

Second option: make it T10 with emphasis in gun power. Make the guns have slightly faster reload and more accurate, could work here. Problem here is Ohio exists, so why two T10 premium BBs for one nation (albeit NJ would be coal so everyone can eventually get it.), oh and toying with making T10 BBs have very accurate guns at any range with decent reloads (looking at you Kremlin, Slava, pre-nerf Ohio) overpowered, so much care would have to happen for this.

Third option: T8 A hull Iowa hull. Main issues here are 1. rudder shift time longer than the actual ship, and 2. why another T8 premium US BB when Alabama exists in the same function as Jersey would, but be worse because Jersey has the Mk8 guns rather than the Mk7s?

Overall, NJ is a worthy addition to the game, but any roles she could fulfill are already taken unless WG wants to power creep established USN premium BBs like Alabama or Missouri.

WG says they removed Missouri due to its effect on the economy. Why not add NJ In it’s place with the same economy as JB, Musashi, and Georgia? If the radar is an issue, give it DFAA to differentiate it from Iowa or give it the same tier 7 radar found on Salem.

I’m sure there are plenty of players, especially on NA, who would love to have a premium Iowa but missed out on MO.

Could always get one of them in a second US BB line.

There are options but I doubt if WG would add another tech tree ship when it would sell as a premium.
