Developer Bulletin 0.8.7 - Round 2

Starts: Thu. Aug. 08 9:30 AM PT / your local time: Thu. Aug. 08 11:30 AM

Ends: Mon. Aug. 12 8:30 AM PT / your local time: Mon. Aug. 12 10:30 AM

Commanders, thank you for participating in the Public test of update 0.8.7! Your feedback helps us to improve the version and fix any errors that might sneak in. Check out the change-log below and join the second session of the Public test!

IMPORTANT!  As the Update is still being tested, the information in this Bulletin is tentative and reflects the state of game development at the time of it's publication. Some changes and new features may be removed entirely or implemented differently by the time the Update goes live. Screenshots, specific values of certain characteristics, and details of in-game mechanics will not necessarily be relevant after the Update is released.

AA changes

Spoiler

During the first session of the Public test, AA priority sector proved itself as a convenient and effective way to protect the ship against enemy aircraft. But a bug crept into the mechanic's logic: instead of dealing the instant damage only once as intended, it was dealt by each AA zone. E.g., if planes were in ships' medium and long-range zones, priority sector dealt 7% of the squadron's HP instead of 3.5%.

We fixed this bug for the second Public test session and priority sector will now deal the correct amount of instant damage: 3.5% for battleships, cruisers, aircraft carriers and 5% for destroyers, regardless of which AA zone the squadron is currently in.

Also, the number of hit points of tier IV aircraft carriers' planes was increased per the overall progression, and we made changes in the sizes of the tier IV-VIII aircraft carrier squadrons to balance them with all the AA defense changes.

Сhanges in the sizes of the squadrons

  • British tier IV aircraft carrier Hermes:
    • The number of bombers in the squadron has been increased from 3 to 4;
    • The number of torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 3 to 4;
    • The number of torpedo bombers and bombers on deck increased from 5 to 6.
  • British tier VI aircraft carrier Furious:
    • The number of stock bombers in the squadron increased from 4 to 6;
    • The number of researchable bombers in the squadron increased from 4 to 6;
    • The number of stock and researchable bombers on deck increased from 6 to 9.
  • Japanese tier IV aircraft carrier Hosho:
    • The number of torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 3 to 6;
    • The size of the torpedo bombers' attacking flight increased from 1 to 2;
    • The number of torpedo bombers on deck increased from 5 to 9.
  • Japanese tier VI aircraft carrier Ryujo:
    • The number of stock attack aircraft in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of researchable attack aircraft in the squadron was increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of researchable torpedo bombers on deck increased from 9 to 12;
    • The number of stock bombers on deck increased from 9 to 12.
  • Japanese tier VIII aircraft carrier Shokaku:
    • The number of stock torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of researchable torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 8 to 10;
    • The number of stock bombers in the squadron increased from 6 to 9;
    • The size of the stock bombers' attacking flight increased from 2 to 3;
    • The number of researchable torpedo bombers on deck reduced from 16 to 15;
    • The number of stock bombers on deck increased from 9 to 14.
  • American tier IV aircraft carrier Langley:
    • The number of torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 3 to 6;
    • The size of the torpedo bombers' attacking flight increased from 1 to 2;
    • The number of torpedo bombers on deck increased from 5 to 9.
  • American tier VI aircraft carrier Ranger:
    • The number of researchable torpedo bombers in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of stock bombers in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of stock attack aircraft in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The number of researchable attack aircraft in the squadron increased from 6 to 8;
    • The size of the stock attack aircraft's attacking flight reduced from 3 to 2.
    • The number of researchable torpedo bombers on deck increased from 9 to 12;
    • The number of stock bombers on deck increased from 9 to 12;
    • The number of stock and researchable attack aircraft on deck increased from 9 to 12.

Besides this, we fixed an error that lead to incorrect calculation of damage by the new AA defense system in the first session of the Public Test: the total AA defense damage will be reduced, and the interaction between AA defense and aircraft carriers will be more balanced.

Philippe Auboyneau's changes

Spoiler

Philippe Auboyneau's talents can be activated multiple times and the activation criteria are quite simple. Therefore, these talents have turned out to be too effective compared to the talents of other unique commanders.

We made balance changes to Philippe Auboyneau's talents, based on players feedback and data from the first session of the Public Test:

  • Increase of ship's armament reload time with the "Fully Armed" talent reduced from 10% to 5%;
  • Amount of potential damage required to activate "Speed and Composure" talent increased from 1 000 000 to 2 000 000;
  • Speed boost from the "Speed and Composure" talent reduced from 10% to 8%.

Also, the portrait and pennant of the new commander were visually updated.

Bugs fixed

Spoiler

  • Fixed errors that led to the incorrect working of the new autopilot: the autopilot did not turn in the right direction and displayed unnecessary indicators on the minimap;
  • Fixed bug causing the disappearance of allied ship models;
  • Fixed an error that resulted in incorrect display of the key area marker on the minimap while protecting the base;
  • Fixed an error that resulted in the carousel being superimposed with the ship parameters bar;
  • Fixed a bug that caused the ships to be sold for full price at the Research Bureau. Now the branches will be sold for 50% of the cost of ships and modules;
  • Fixed an error in which pressing the A/D keys in the potential collision area reproduced the sound of pressing the Q/E keys;
  • Fixed other bugs from the first session of the Public Test.

  • Cool 1
