The carousel filter that selects ships that still have a yellow flake to knock off was a welcome QoL addition.  However, if you have the filter selected and you knock the Frogflake off the last ship, the filter checkbox disappears and you can no longer de-select it, meaning that no ship appears in the carousel.  Restarting the client does nothing.

If you turn off Hide Unsuitable Ships, then all the ships appear in ghost mode.  Fortunately, they can be selected.

This is (at least partially) the result of sloppy programming.  Sure, don't offer the option if no ship has a yellow star, but then what?  Better to just leave it visible at all times.

Update 1:

It just occurred to me that I have the Carousel Extended mod installed.  It doesn't mess with the filters, but stranger things have happened... Removing the mod did not display the Frogflake filter in the carousel, but it did give me back the familiar external Reset All option.  Still sloppy programming if they intended to rely on the reset, but at least there's a work-around now.

Update 2:   The Reset All option is indeed present in the the Carousel Extended mod — It's the X at the end of the filter list when the eyeball is selected (the filter group with the yellow star is not listed).  I thought the X closed the eyeball, but it resets ALL filters, even the ones that aren't displayed.

This was very much a case of a human not understanding the function of all UI elements, aided by non-intuitive UI design choices.

Thanks for the warning and heads-up, Duckman ... I'll remember to turn off the "Flake Selector" before playing my last ship in battle.  :cap_like:

I tried it, but when you knock off the flake, the ship goes ghost and then you have to scroll back to the other ships with flakes. With 256 ships, even with 4 rows, than can take a few seconds sometimes. I started just doing the ship tier and filtering premium for T2-T4 or going to T5+ to just one ship time to make the groups manageable.

@Kami, @turbo07, @Femennenly, would you pass this warning on that the check box disappears when the last flake is knocked off please?

I just finished all of mine. Did not experience this.  I unchecked the flower, reset fine.

I'm hoping that it resets when I restart the client.

Arctic background.  Me want.

@Radar_X

Working Home & End keys to use in the carousel would be great. Pg Up & Pg Dn to move a "page" would be awsome!

Not to mention a filter that uses AND logic NOT OR logic.

Hire some UI guy please

May be next Christmas we can have it as a present

At one place I worked, I was the UI team lead, and worked with a guy that had a doctorate in interface interaction.  We worked on real-time command and control interfaces.  It's not something that you can leave to non-specialists and expect smooth results.

BTW, I figured out that the Frogflake problem is due to sloppy design plus mod interaction. (See the OP.)   I'm feeling much better now.
