Just wondering how players afford to play high tier CVs in co-op without just burning credits.

It's tough to make a buck at tier 8 even with premium.  There just isn't enough time to get the kind of damage you need to earn.

I've been playing my tier 6 carriers in the operations.  A man's gotta eat.

Camo, signals and playing well. Also playing sparingly and then switch to playing mid tiers before the credit losses become too great.

I play a lot of co-op and most of the time the CV is at the bottom of the scoring chart. Seems very rare to see one in mid-range and I can't recall ever seeing one at the top of the chart.

Two words: RAM FLAG:Smile_izmena:.  Oh and buffing your secondaries doesn't hurt either.

Once the bots have deplaned you, ram a full health T10 BB for maximum profits.  People will be angry at you for yoloing in a CV...YMMV

On a more serious note, the trick is to be able to land torp hits on DDs in co op first and fast.

Rockets you spend too much time using to get lackluster damage with the exception of Midway's tiny tims.

 

Hitting a torp or two on a single DD yields much more rewards than doing multiple passes on a BB.

 

Focusing DDs first makes all the difference of scoring top of the team.

@gillhunter I have observed the same thing. I have only tier 4 and 6 tech tree CVs and the Enterprise I got in a super container. Oh, the Saipan dropped in a super container this morning. I only use those two tier 8s in co op just to prove how much I detest the unneeded garbage CV Rebork.

High Tier play is like having a Ferrari in the garage. You better have a Honda civic parked next to it as a daily driver or that shiny red beast is giving you nothing but expensive grief :-)

Punched into a game on my NC a couple of days ago... had a Graf Z on the team.  Driver ran that CV right up into the middle of the fray, albeit island hopping.  Flight time to targets had to be nothing.  Finished one down from the top.  Been too skeerd to try it myself.

This is an example of what prioritizing DDs with torpedoes will do to make you top of the team with less time needed to spend on your planes.

At first look the low damage shouldn't reward me this much credits and base xp in co op, but because I aimed for the DDs I more than made up for it due to how the rewards work on % of ship hit points instead of raw overall damage.

When you are sitting on hundreds of millions in credits you can lose a million per match for a long time.

The economic’s At T8 for CV’s in co-op is a lot worse in 8.5.  The stealth AA T9 & T10 cruisers can wipe out a squadron immediately upon getting in AA range.  I even lost credits using the Saipan with premium time and signals!  Probably going to give up on them and stick to the other classes!

By burning credits.  I only play my CV's in coop because I'm just not very good playing them.  So, I take the hit in silver, oh well, I make it plenty for multiple games back in one game in my Alabama!  So, it all works out.  :Smile_glasses:

I think you are looking for these pages..   I took all 4 premium CVs out last night to see what the economy changed to.

Haven't had time to compare from the last run..  but I'm pretty sure they all lost money before --- but are better now.

Kaga (T9 Battle), Saipan (T10 Battle) , Enterprise (T9 Battle), and Graf (T9 battle)

He's got some freakish unicorn blood or something pumping through his veins , he's a hell of a good player that's for sure.
I honestly think though, the best chance a CV player has, is being top tier, only way to really guarantee that is to play tier X only.

Makes it a grind to get there though.

Premium time, perma camo, tons of flags, and hope the game goes long enough to do something. 

T8 Premium CV's do ok earnings wise even on average games. Tech tree ones you need a good game. T10 CV's with all of the above do ok as long as you do something.

CV's, and the way they do hardly any damage per strike now, are not good Co-op ships at all. Even worse now with the AA change that slaughters the planes.

I seriously hope at some point WG addresses the CV economy just in general; not just Co-op. Seems most all players, regardless of mode, have trouble earning in them.

The service fee and plane fees are outrageous.

I get 1st or 2nd now and then but that is usually a game that goes a long time. I consider mid pack (3-5) to be good when playing CV.

I retire all my cv from coop.

Always lowest tier and aa is too much

There are also very very few battle where is there a cv in Green team.

Furious, Ryujo and Ranger can be fun in co-op, and can really shine in operations.

Implacable is a struggle (though the fact that I only just got her may be part of that) and if I load in as bottom tier I am essentially screwed, and that's with the basic cost reduction and earning boost flags (NOT Wyvern) loaded and the event permacamo mounted. @Vader_Sama is right; I'm going to have to work on my torpedo-based DD killing (although I will also continue to use rockets, as I need more practice with those anyway).

Some significant buffs were announced to Ark Royal this morning, and she's looking more and more like a pretty good prospect.

Wow,  you've got "Work smarter,  not harder down to a science".

 

Pretty safe assumption that you have prem time, whereas I do not. (I have the Perm Camo), You have all human players competing with you, and I had 2 others for whatever that is worth.

If I had prem time(that would get me to about 200k),  it takes 14mins to gain the same amount of credits as you do in 4mins. (in a rougher game where the humans and the bots were overrun and was almost a loss.)

 

From looking at the Wiki,  we are at the same patch.

You don't, you just burn credits.  It's hard to get anything with High Tier CVs in Co-op.  The games are over too quickly and CVs are a ship type that excel the longer a game goes.  Even the Tier X CVs don't put out enough in these short 3-5 minute games and you eat losses as a result.  There's no going around it.  You need a team bad enough where the game goes long, then that's where you can do big games as a CV.  But that doesn't happen much in Co-op.

 

The Premium Tier VIII CVs can barely make a profit, but all those tech tree CVs, even with Perma-Camo, are losing money.  Even the Tier X CVs with Perma-Camo and the fancy high Service Cost reduction, that doesn't do anything.  Because the real cost in CVs is Ammunition resupply, which is where the costs from the planes are tossed in.
