Expect much higher plane losses now.  MUCH higher.

Sure, the new system should be more punishing.  The question becomes: is it possible to manage the losses, or is everyone who's not a unicum CV screwed?

What I don’t get is how to maneuver to avoid aa if they lock us to a rail and can only turn left and right.  No up or down.  If they want me to fly planes, then let me fly planes.

I feel this pain.  You can use terrain to your advantage on occasion, but that's hit-or-miss depending on target selection.  My main frustration comes when using dive bombers.  Planes take 50% less damage during an attack run.  Torpedo bombers can easily start their run well outside the AA bubble of an enemy ship, so that helps mitigate some of the pain.  Rockets also have a decently long spin up, and are the fastest plane type. It's the dive bombers that get utterly screwed, as they move at bomber speeds and have to push all the way into the middle AA ring before starting their drop (usually), and take significantly more damage as a result.  It makes them way harder to use.
