Please welcome a new ship in the Armory—Tier X Japanese cruiser flag_Japan_740b57e1da9b5d3fe46b61e09e3dcpremium_7ca1d32231aa1e03cc8c292ae268c631X Yoshino, available for 248,000 Coal.

Yoshino is a Tier X Japanese cruiser with long-range artillery, heavy salvoes, and explosive damage—a set of advantages that are generally characteristic of high-tier heavy cruisers. Yoshino has all of it, but she also has an ace up her sleeve: over a dozen long-range torpedoes. The variety of her armament will allow you to keep enemy ships on their toes at any distance. However, long-range combat is the preferable option for Yoshino, due to her large size and typical cruiser armor protection.

Main characteristics of Yoshino

  • Nine 310 mm guns mounted in triple turrets that boast enjoyable ballistics and a smaller dispersion ellipse when compared with cruisers Kronshtadt and Alaska.
  • Two types of torpedoes to choose from: long range (20 km) and medium range (12 km). The latter have greater speed and damage, and they are harder to spot, too. You're also likely to grow fond of the cruiser’s torpedo aiming angles.
  • In addition to the Damage Control Party and Repair Party consumables, the ship can also use Defensive AA Fire or Hydroacoustic Search in slot 2, and the Spotting Aircraft or Fighter consumables in slot 3.

Now this is interesting. When was the last time we saw this happen?

I won't be complaining - my Bayern --> Gneisenau grind just got shortened. On the flipside, I'm pleased I finished the Gnevny when I did. Richelieu's a variable one for me - I wasn't intending to move up to Alsace in a hurry, but I'm pleased I got the B hull out of the way before this.

Based on the normal amounts of XP they earn, I suspect the difference won't be much; game-game variation is far more than that.

I'm a little miffed that WG decided to nerf both the credit and XP gains on 2/3 of the French BB line.

Lol, Ark Royal is the only mid-tier ship to enter testing. Everything I want to buy is low tier, and apparently receiving zero attention.

As for Yoshino - is she still regarded as a turd? In which case - how sad. WG had not one, but two shots to get the class right, and still couldn't do the Japanese any justice. How... predictable.

I'm a little miffed that WG decided to nerf both the credit and XP gains on 2/3 of the French BB line.

It's probably because the role they play in the game is different than originally planned for.

Aside from obviously creating high tier content that can be sold for far more than any mid tier, I think WG is pushing these ships during summer, a period when quite a few people are away from the game, as a way of attracting them back.

Benham is a heck of an incentive if you think about it to sit in the middle of summer and grind away.

If Yoshino has not changed as of the current iteration, I for one an very happy with her, much more survivable and useful than Azuma, gun accuracy makes her a serious menace to cruisers at any range.

I look forward to Yoshino, I might even spend some coal.

Also pleased that "feedback" about the yucky t8 brit CV premium camo has been taken into account, and that in Dreadnought's case, some genuine (as in exists in RL, such as the Lion taken from UK Crown heraldy) symbolism has been included. BUT, the Union Jack on the stern, is the wrong way up.:Smile_teethhappy:

I have fun in the Azuma, which most games played are at tier 10 anyways.  I have the coal, and it’s cheaper than I thought it would be, so I’ll pull the trigger tomorrow when it comes out.  19pt capt ready to go in already too.  Should be a fun ship.

I am willing to overlook it just a tiny bit since they have added the heraldic lions from the royal arms of england, even if at a different colour than the classic arms (the gold in red background ones).

When I was in boy scouts in 1959 I went right up to the Mayor's front door and told him to reverse the flag on the Union Jack on the flagpole in his front yard because it was upside down. The Royal Yacht Britannia was about 400 meters offshore with HM Queen Elizabeth aboard for the opening ceremonies of the St-Lawrence Seaway! The gentleman knew me well and laughed his head off and we went out and fixed it together. Her Majesty sent him a ''Thank You'' note from the ship!

quite, it is a huge improvement over Implacable's camo with the fictional "Crown" on the flight deck and a few swirly bits to catch the eye.

Sit on your hands for a week and wait. See what the first-adopters think of her. THEN buy.

I hope she works out. Tier 4 torpedo bombers in a T6 ship that can see T8 sounds like a recipe for disaster if she's bottom tier a lot. I tried stock torpedo bombers in the T6 Ranger when the rework dropped and they were very quickly massacred.

Hopefully they work in a bit of Swordfish-vs-Bismarck magic to keep them even near-usable across the entire MM spread this ship will see.

I had planned to buy JB and then Georgia in either order as soon as I could grind the coal for the second, but now I favour JB when the coupon drops (she will make a valuable training addition to my French fleet) and wait to see what the other high-tier ships are offered for as I re-grind the coal I need. It's good that we finally have the Yoshino price and availability confirmed, but I fear they've left it too late for many people who thought Georgia suited their fleet's needs at least as well and was there first.

Lovely story, one to treasure!

I can never remember which way up it is supposed to be, but since I once read of such a "scandal", I thought I should google the matter to be sure. Low and behold! (I'm awaiting my thankyou note from Her Queeniness :Smile_teethhappy:) I still get the tricolore back to front too, don't ever let me touch the Stripes and Stars.

If that were the main reason, then many other T6 and T7 ships need the same treatment according to your logic.

It's why I phrased it as a question. I'm not sure that IS the reason; it's just one possibility that occurred to me.

Another is that the Lyon in particular can be a secondary and/or AA monster if specced right, and a useful tool for those who've already finished the grind but are hanging on to her for farming secondary hits and AA kills for directives. Not sealclubbing as such, because she can still see ships that will mop the floor with her and her main armament is somewhat under-calibre for the tier, but experienced captains are playing her more extensively than you would expect. IDK; just brainstorming.

Hmm.. I always found Richelieu and Alsace to be a little expensive to run the way it is and don't play either very much without a credits bonus premium camo as a result.  I wouldn't have expected either to get an earnings nerf.  Not complaining so much as surprised.

I agree as to her beauty and in reviewing the currently proposed specifications am really interested in probably getting her.  The 8 km torps, if they are at usable firing angles will be nice in addition to what should be very accurate guns. 380 mms with cruiser level dispersion....

Hmmm, will be interested in the reviews for the Yoshino.  Have enough coal to get, not sure which of the ships presently in testing will be offered for coal, so do I use it now or wait?
