Could WG just remove the base caps, and make this mode  either a last man standing, or game for points ?? Certain times WG pushing this mode as the only game mode (sometimes 6-7 match in a row), and to have the lemming trains lose the caps , game after game is just not fun. For some reason, most players just don`t know what to do in standard mode, so they keep follow each other to lemming to the farthest point from either caps, on the map..................

Only if replaced with epicenter every match.  A game without objectives is a even worse lemming train half going right, half going left or nobody leaves spawn.

See, objective would be to eliminate the red team.  That way, lemming trains have a fighting chance..., and teams would lemming to each other, rather than away.. Not all game modes should be about zones on the map...... when in reality ,half the playerbase have no clue, that those zones are important ....

You would have to make the borders shrink (mechanic already in game, just not used), and you'd almost be required to remove/reduce concealment (otherwise you'll have DDs just blind torping radarless cruisers and BBs the entire game).

Could be fun, but at the very least, the border shrinking mechanic would be required.

??? i don`t really get it. Why would it be different, dds torping blindly,,if there are no caps,,, than now,dds torping blindly with caps?? And why the border shrink?? There are small enough maps ,but even with big maps,, with all the CV activity,,why would it matter?? Not that there is a chance that WG would change anything,to make the game more enjoyable.....

Picture this.  12v12, 4 BBs/CAs/DDs on each side.  The map doesn't shrink and its a FFA/Deathmatch.  After a while the 2 teams find each other and killing commences.  All good so far.  Let's say it gets down to 2 BBs (with no radar or hydro) remaining against 1 DD.  That DD can remain undetected forever and the BBs will never see him.  He can completely dictate the match at that point, torping as he wants, or just running out the clock for a draw.  The BBs will never find him unless he makes a mistake and there is nothing they can really do, other than sit and wait to die, as there are no base caps or anything to help them win.

The cap mechanic is there to give everyone a common goal, beyond "KILL".  It ensures that if all else fails, every ship has a goal that they can strive towards and accomplish with reasonable effort.  It effectively shrinks the map, without having to actually shrink the map.  Without this, there is no funnel mechanic to ensure combat.  Games will play out to 20 minutes regularly (something WG wouldn't want).  If someone wants to avoid conflict and force a draw, or run out the clock, there is no "mechanic' in place to stop them unless the other ship can outrun them and locate them (which would be fairly hard on a full map with no goals).

Not saying its a bad idea by any means, just that you need to think out all the scenarios that can play out, that would make the game mode less fun.  I'm not even going to get into CVs LOL, would would essentially rule the mode, not having to focus on caps.

cap mechanic is not observed by half the player base... With all the island hugging/lemming/ edge hugging ???? That is why i think, there should be a game mode, without caps. To go with the meta......  The game direction clearly heading towards a more and more arcade style, brainless shooter game. So oldtimers like me, and other diehard players, who wants to play it the way it meant to be played,,just scratching our heads, game after game,,how to do the "objectives" with only 1-2-3 ships per game, who would listen, and use their brain.....while the rest goes ,,to the edge, to the secret island base at the northwest corner, that is not even on the map,,,  (there has to be one, since so many ships heading there all the time)

So let`s remove the "objectives" and make a mode, where only minimal strategic thinking is required  ... :-)
