Dr. John died of a heart attack today at the age of 77 . NOLA is gonna miss him . This is what the Dr . looked like when I saw him at the Warehouse in NOLA in the 70's .

The jazz section in heaven just got better.

Probably the song most people know him for.

We got to see a side of him that most outside of NOLA didn't or wouldn't understand . The offerings of rum and tobacco and the chanted invocation to Papa Legba before the show began , you basically saw a voodoo ritual performed on stage , Dr. John was the real deal . As much as I gotta kick out of Alice Cooper he had nothing on the Dr. as far as creep factor was concerned . Things got plenty strange at Tipitina's watching Dr.J while under the influence of recreational substances .  It was a great time to be alive IMO .  :Smile_teethhappy:Gonna miss seeing him at the Jazzfest .
