We got to see a side of him that most outside of NOLA didn't or wouldn't understand . The offerings of rum and tobacco and the chanted invocation to Papa Legba before the show began , you basically saw a voodoo ritual performed on stage , Dr. John was the real deal . As much as I gotta kick out of Alice Cooper he had nothing on the Dr. as far as creep factor was concerned . Things got plenty strange at Tipitina's watching Dr.J while under the influence of recreational substances . It was a great time to be alive IMO . Gonna miss seeing him at the Jazzfest .
