Herman Wouk died today, age 103 (no, no typo)

He served on a minesweeper in WW2 and some of his more famous books played in that era.

The Caine Mutinity (he won the Oulitzer price for this book)

The Winds of War

War and Rememberance

Both have a navy officer named Voctor Henry as main character. Robert Mitchum played him in the mini series with the same name.

Rest in peace Mr. Wouk ........

Winds of war and War and Remembrance probably the best books ever written on WW2, as a whole global conflict. (at least for western hemisphere point of view)....

My first exposure to Mr. Wouk was the the Caine Mutiny Court Martial, readings from which I presented in competition in high school.

R.I.P. Herman, and thanks.
