1 CV Cap per game is all I'm (and alot of others) are asking for

Is this so hard?

I can see mine and a lot of other players' issues with CVs currently going away if there was only 1 per match.

Am I being totally ridiculous in seeing that this could be a GIANT step in the right direction with small balancing tweeks here or there as needed?

WG is never going to be able to balance CVs effectively unless they put a hard cap on the number of CVs in a match. You can't hope to balance a class against instances where 2 CVs working hand in hand can pretty much win a match on their own while 1 CV working solo will probably have a mediocre match at best..... mostly.

Why not 12v12 CVs?

That way all the CVs can play together. And everyone else can play the game without them...

Because CVs are horribly suited to sink one another.  In addition the suggestion is no different than suggesting that BBs should only be in games with other BBs and in no other game mode.

I would love the option for 12v12 BB games. It'd be hilariously enjoyable as a change of pace.

As long as it was an optional game mode and not forced upon the entire class as mandatory, sure.

As much as I'd like this too, I think it's even more unrealistic than removing CVs entirely :Smile_sad:

While CVs are capped at 1 per side at Tier 10, it is unfortunately not beneficial to do at lower tiers due to the increased queue times it would create for both CV and Non-CV players.  We do understand the challenges multiple CVs can create so please see today's Dev blog which will hopefully address some of them.

Per said explanation, by WG.  It's not "a little longer".  Due to the needed ships to match up with a single CV, the queue wait time would become longer and longer, eventually reaching 5 minutes, at which point the MM would start force creating matches with less and less ships in them, 10v10, 7v7, 3v3 etc.  This would include surface ships (IE: you).  Extending the wait time past 5 minutes, would not help the situation as it would have diminishing returns.

In summary based, on my opinion and what I learned from the post, if WG could simply flip the switch create single CVs only matches, they would.  Due to the number of CV ships in the queue though vs the number of non CV ships, they can't.

This is such a cop out.  I can not tell you how many times I have tried to solo sink drop with friends since 8.0 only for one group to get a double CV match and the other to get no CV's.  CV's and DD's should both have a hard cap this has been asked for years.  Would it be that bad to try it?  Could not be any worse than being a essential live beta test of constantly sliding mechanics one way or another.

Just finished an interesting match in my Pyotr Velikiy.   Three T6 CVs, two BBs, and two DDs.

Thought I was in a Twilight Zone Ranked match, with only 7 per side, and nearly half of each team being a CV.

While I don't have access to the MM code to look at, neither do you and WG isn't going to share it (I don't blame them).  We have no idea exactly how it works, why or why not it would have created that specific situation that you saw.  While we can take educated guesses, we will never know the exact criteria under which it is constrained or the reason for those critera.

With the sheer number of other games that it had to create at that exact second, odds are it also created some single CV games. 

If I had to take a wild stab in the dark at it, and this might be completely wrong, it had already flagged your match as a "non CV match" and filled in the rest of the slots.

That is unrealistic on many levels but 2/3 vs 2/3 with escorts would be a fun diversion.

It will never happen. People have begged for a 2 arty cap in WoT since inception. They went to 5 per side...

Now its at 3... 12 years now? 10 maybe?

1 is suboptimal, 2 would be a minimum to avoid deadlock situations at lower levels

Until one realizes the challenge at hand when playing a low tier DD against 3 enemy CVs in Domination mode.  I think people would gladly wait just a tad longer in queue if they knew they'd be receiving a more enjoyable gameplay experience in return.

I got no issues with 4/4, 6/6 or even 6/8 CV parings. What really becomes an issue when it becomes 8/8, 8/10 and 10/10 CV pairings.  So I say limit two carriers to T7 and lower. single carrier to T8 and higher.

The issue is that waiting longer doesn't actually create better games.  If you cap it there will be more CV players in queue than slots for CVs in a match, meaning that wait times will get progressively longer and longer and longer.  After 5 minutes MM will immediately force a match with whatever ships are available at the time, meaning a game with 1 CV per side and only a few surface ships.  You'll be getting anything from 5v5's with 1 CV per side to 3v3's with 1 CV per side.  Nobody wants to play those matches regularly, and to top it off, the CV will have an even greater influence in those tiny forced matches.  Get the worse CV and your loss is almost guaranteed.

What if you remove the 5min timer?  Then you have an insanely long queue, which forces less CV games by preventing people from actually playing their CVs.
