Ty in advance, tried searching but couldn't come up with anything. Say for instance I buy the Charleston for coal. It comes with a port slot. If I sell it for credits, can I eventually repurchase it with Coal again or is it one ship for coal one time? Not that I'm trying to get port slots or anything lol.

Really?  I'm pretty sure I bought JB for coal, and it appears the game will allow me to sell it:

You must have bought that for cash, no  coal ship can be sold for credits

Uh, no.  It was a coal purchase, I assure you.  I honestly don't remember the last ship I bought for cash.

Huh. I honestly don't know. I know I got Salem for coal and...nope. Can't sell it.

Edit: I got Charleston for coal, but I do have the option to sell it, so not sure what's going on there.

Well, I got curious. Not only could I sell it, get credits, get a demounted Camo and  a port slot and 3 point captain and it is available to purchase again. Fair trade

Bought it for coal, sold it for credits, can rebuy it again for Coal. All within a few minutes. Makes all that shoveling worth it

Have we found a glitch to convert coal into credits, captains and port slots?

I wouldn't try it with anything other than the Charleston or maybe the Yubari. Anything else is going to get fiendishly expensive, and you just know that one of these days, someone is going to pull this stunt with their Musashi, spend the credits, and not be able to get it back on a support ticket.

Now all you have to ask yourself is whether a port slot is worth 15K coal (Charleston's price). Ultimately since coal is a free renewable resource in-game, the answer must be yes; the only other factor is your time.

Remember you can get port slots from credits containers and that georgia and yoshino are coming for coal

Thanks for that, I 've been picking the same containers for so long, I forgot there were other options. Trading in a coal ship is definitely not a real economical solution, but I like to hoard my doubloons.
