It's hard to take negative feedback regarding CVs back to the devs when so much of the criticism against carriers is worthless. It has become increasingly difficult to find reasoned arguments amidst the sea of angry rants that have little to no basis in fact. A fair degree of exaggeration always exists in claims (that's why I look at actual numbers). However, with carriers, it's painfully clear when someone doesn't know what they're talking about tries to make up (or pretty up) an anecdote in order to sell their dislike. The unfortunate side effect of all of this is that so very often, negative feedback that may have a point gets lost and dismissed because it sounds like ignorant ranting. The irony is that those most invested in seeing AA interaction against carriers improve are doing their utmost to sabotage making any progress in this regard.
I personally want things to get better for surface ships. But it's damn hard to make my case to Wargaming when I'm being fed a constant stream of angry lies and ignorance.
Agreed.
@LittleWhiteMouse and @Femennenly : Regarding the whole "how well should AA and Defensive AA counter CVs" question, I'm wondering if it would be possible to setup a training room for CV vs. non-CV scenarios, record the results, and let people weigh in on the resulting replay video(s). We would need at least 3 to 5 people who have the access to all of the ships as well as have the ability (resources) to change configurations (i.e., it wouldn't necessarily be: just anyone should show up and use whatever ship and commander config they may have on hand). It would take some time (probably over the span of multiple weekends), but I would certainly be interested in participating. If that sounds like a good idea to you, please open another topic and specify what you think would be needed with respect to players, ships, ship and commander configs. I'm available during most hours of any weekend.
