It is quite a good torp/rocket CV, but the carpet bombs leave something to be desired.

It's too bad WG went with ahistorical aircraft on so many of these Royal Navy Carriers.

The carpet bombs can be useful for starting fires, particularly if you have taken DE for the captain.  But you do have to be VERY aware of the RN CVs' carpet bombs if you like  switching between CVs of different nations, because they are completely unlike dive bombs.  You need to learn to lead the target a bit more, particularly if you're trying to align your aiming ellipse with the long axis of the ship.  But if your primary goal is to start a fire or 2 on a ship, then you can attack from a good deal closer to perpendicular to the ship's long axis.  Just aim somewhat close to the bow of the ship, since the carpet bombs will land further aft due to their long  drop time.   In my experience, it's actually an easier drop to drop semi-perpendicular than along the long axis, because if you don't get your ellipse along the long axis of the ship and you're to one side or the other, you might miss entirely.  OTOH, if you aim semi-perpendicularly, it's almost certain that you'll get some hits.  Maybe not as many as you might with a perfect long axis drop, but enough to do some damage and perhaps get a fire or 2 started.  And you don't have to be nearly as perfect with your aim, which makes it an easier drop to execute, though with a smaller optimal damage return.

Yeah, those carpet and torp bombers on the Implacable seem far too large for normal carrier planes.  They almost remind me of Mitchell's B-25's on the USS Hornet, they're so damned large.

Her stock configuration would use the proper aircraft but it upgrades into the Spearfish that never entered service.

Seafires and Avengers.

A fun one is Hermes' Swordfish.  Used as level bombers :Smile_trollface:
