I will start.

Purchased 25 crate bundle for 25,000 doubloons ($99.99 USD = OUCH! - but I really need flags so main reason I bought this amount)

Received (camo & flags):

  • 185 Victory Camo (+100% XP/+75% Capt XP/+50% FXP as well as the usual -3%/+4%)
  • 50 Basilisk
  • 20 Leviathan
  • 10 Scylla
  • 30 Hydra
  • 20 Wyvern
  • 20 Orubouros
  • 20 Red Dragon
  • 20 Dragon (yellow)

Tokens (75 p/ crate):

  • 25X75 = 1875

Missions: (I was really hoping for the T8 or at least the T7 if I got any to speed up progress through the line but was pleased to get all 4 - the order received for anyone who cares was T5/T8/T7/T6))

GWybBoJ.jpg

Used 1500 of the tokens and got Lazo: (will save the 375 I have left to add to what I earn to get the 500 needed for the T8 RU BB perma camo)

SaSmfEh.jpg

All in all good results and stuff for $$$ invested. Now I have a butt load of grinding to do for all that needed base XP to unlock the BB's then I have to start on Capt's. I can dip into my RU reserves of 30+ 10pt RU Capt's LOL. I will put my Nikolai/Okt Rev Capt on the T8.

Indeed. Far more than I expected.

*sigh* Best get on with the grind as soon as I can, then. I've got a lot of tokens to earn if I want that cruiser!

How good does the drop rate appear to be on the new ships? Might only get 7 but would like at least 1 Soviet BB

Bought the 4 crate, got nothing of value --- then used the tokens to buy 10 regular crates in the armory and FINALLY got a ship -- Pyotr  --- 4 premo crates, 10 standard crates -- RNG hates me though.  It looks at my forum WG talk-back and kills my odds.

You can use your earned tokens to buy the crates in the associated area for this run and you can in-fact get a ship as I did.
The $ crates for 4 worked out to $18 -- I buy 30 days and 2500 gold for $20 ea month.  I use the premo flags though and they pay big in T10 CV.  25 camos, various signals (about 80), 48 premo signals, 5000 coal and the T5 ship was the final haul. 4500 gold is $21.xx if purchased by itself.

I spent money to get much needed flags and camo. The rest is a bonus.

Don't fully understand your comment - that is how a barter system works.  I earn tokens by doing what I do at work (teaching, IT) and I exchange them for things other people do at their work (run WOWS).  I am not buying a ship, I am paying for an experience in a hobby.  A lot cheaper than any of my other hobbies and way cheaper than a lot of other peoples hobbies.  The four crates cost less than a small electric motor for one of my planes and I don't have to maintain/repair.store them.  Plus, it represents less than an hour of my time at work in exchange for who knows how many hours of enjoyment.  Actually, I am paying the salaries of people that design and maintain a place where I can enjoy something.  Not sure how you think they keep the lights on at WOWS or the developers feed their families without being compensated for their time.

The bonus mission is for Vladivostok, exactly the bote I wanted.

Time is money -- people play lots of games populating the server for WG and fellow players.  Time = money, therefore those of us who prefer to use boosts, save time on grinds, therefore saving money.  It all washes in the end.  I didn't get the containers in the hopes of getting ships.  I got containers for premiums, ship was but a bonus.

If someone does not then the game disapears.

Fake is nice, nothing to maintain (don't get me started on PC upgrades) no taxes to pay (yet anyway) and no messes to clean up afterwards. And you have no commitments to honor, except to a clan if you are in one. Play when you want (most of the time) quit when you want.

Not to mention this hobby has yet to put me in the hospital.

Well I must be in good standing with RNGeesus (or I just used up my daily allotment). I got the 7 pack as it's all I could spare the cash for and got 3 of the ship missions. Pyotyr, Sinop, and the real goal of Vladivostok. The flags will be helpful for my financially challenged USN/Allies account as well. I'll be doing a lot of operation Narai it seems to get that base XP goal met, which is fine as I love Narai and have several great ships for it.

In other news, my IJN/Axis account's battleship squadron flagship is looking magnificent thanks to this update.

Maybe it's just me, but paying for the privilege of grinding ships with base xp, which in turn negates any of the camo and flags you might have picked up just seems wrong.....

Is the game really going to become pay to grind?

I am not buying any crates in this event, that said, it is basically 10 or so average games, give or take.  By the time you earn your daily crates, they will all be unlocked, or close to it.  Is much faster than grinding down the line.

Wasn't really the point. The point is, that WG not only wants to sell you stuff, they want you to grind and earn it as well. :Smile_teethhappy:

Not really sure what that says about the state of the game.

Of course they do.  The longer you spend playing the game, the more likely you are to make another purchase.  Same reason casinos give free soft drinks to people that are playing and don't to people that are not.  It benefits them if you keep playing, so that is their goal.

Personal missions have always come with a gameplay requirement.  Otherwise it would not be a mission, it would just be a ship. This isn't something new or different.
