Sad to see that WG ideas of balancing an interesting 1930's design is to just stick it at tier X.

Would have much preferred it at tier VII-VIII with terrible torpedoes, bad concealment and it's nonexistent AA, in exchange for maximum gun focus.

Instead it's getting thrown into the same tier as ships launched ten years or more (or never) after it, with nerfed main battery rate of fire, and with no way to defend itself from planes whatsoever. All to justify a twelve torpedo broadside (which was entirely dependent on what torpedoes you gave it). They didn't even have the common courtesy to [edited] give her the wartime AA refits of any sort.

 

Hard pass. Thanks for ruining my favorite class of Destroyer Leader though~

If they put them at the mid tiers where they belong they cant charge  zillion fxp for them!  ...or make them steel / dragonglass / unobtanium / moon rocks / etc... that only the elites and pay2win crowd have

I don't even have words for the premium choices.

More US, Russian and French high tier prems, another high tier Russian cruiser making 3, another high tier US US DD one when almost no one else has one at all... 

WG haven't even made a good dent in releasing the currently WIP or revealed ships: Lazo, Leone, Neustrashimy, Yahagi, Yoshino, Bayard, Georgia, Indomitable, Lenin, Benham, Siroco, Viribus Unitas, Yukikaze, Yudachi and Montpellier.

It's good to have another high tier premium destroyer, rather than yet another large cruiser or battleship, but Somers on top of Benham and Black? This is not a tremendously sensible looking tier either.

What do you mean “improve the game mechanics”? Nah, we’ll just sell more overpriced $70-150 packages, and lock famous historical ships at ridiculous tiers and behind walls which are insurmountable for 99/100 players.

DD's complaining about CVs?  Here, have one of the very few USN DDs with single purpose 5-inch guns.  ALSO, to improve the experience, no 40mm, enjoy defending yourself with your 1.1" chicago pianos.  But hey, you get 2 extra barrels to offset the nearly double reload time that Gearing gets PLUS two more torpedoes in a salvo!

Hell, they have YET to compensate USN DDs for OWSF removal from patch 6.3.

WG: What's that? Being spotted from the moon for 20 seconds with guns that are only really effective out to 7-8k has resulted in USN DD plummeting to the bottom of the stats and resulted in the complete annihilation of gunboat builds?

Stop whining, PADDs have the same 5"/38 guns. The fact we gave them effective permasmoke, fantastic stealth, and nuclear tipped deepwater torps has nothing to do with the guns being broken with the current bloom mechanics.

I mean, the T9 and T10 UK DDs have similar arcs. The fact that both of those ships get heals, godlike AP angles (While we still probably haven't fixed the USN 5" AP long fuse timer.), rocket propelled acceleration, long-acting/short range hydro, and even more smoke aren't that much of an advantage.

I mean, you get DefAA, which lets your T10 DD annoy a T8 CV by letting them do only 1 drop on you per flight before recalling it, then doing it again and again until you're dead. Stop whining.
