As a heavy CV player now, I know how vulnerable a Musahi can be, even to T8 CVs.  Very easy to take out without AA support.  So...when I ran my Cleveland in a match with two CVs, I decided to pretty much run with a friendly Musashi the whole game.  He was s good player....topped out on our win.  Enemy air stayed away most of the match, but as he push the cap, both brought the house.  Here is my money shot moment.  Thirteen aircraft shot down in 15 seconds.  In the teeth of a reinforced sector on high alert.

Oh, and listen carefully...and you'll hear the stuka dive siren.

Don't try to ruin the narrative of the boards, OP.  Everyone is supposedly defenseless from air attacks.  What you SHOULD have done was let Musashi fend for himself, then show a clip of him getting sunk in the final moments without your AA cover, and then point, "LOOK!  ANOTHER PLAYER SUNK BY A CV!  THE OUTRAGE!"

AA screen is a fun role to play. Got 46 plane kills in my Kidd a few games ago- no planes allowed near MY buddies! Are you using manual AA?

Only disappointing part is it took little effort to shoot those planes down in your video.

Should be something CV players are annoyed about. Having your planes shot down by no skill just RNG.

It would only take needing to do more to make the sector system effective to put some skill into it.

Maybe they should make it very narrow say a 30 degree sector with AA more concentrated in the center and have you need to move it by using the 'Q' and 'E' keys (or other free keys) but the sector moves slowly so you have to preset it and then try to track the aircraft to damage them. Maybe even using your normal gun sights to track the planes and set where you want your AA concentration to move to while your AA shoots.

Leave the flak as is though.

Um no. It's too much to bring up int he middle of a battle as it is. AA sector priority needs to be a key toggle so that you don't have to bring up some screen and click while you are shooting at another ship.

Right now, i just leave my AA as balanced unless I'm not shooting or being shot at by someone.

lol no, you should have to work for your rewards not simply sit there and whine about how you can do nothing.

Ofcs it is difficult to switch during a fight that is the point. The surface target is distracting you from switching sectors easily just like when you have to make a choice of trying to kill the destroyer on your right that is about to torp you or kill the destroyer on your left that is also about to torp you. It is called team play by one distracting the target while the other does the damage.

Trouble is AA is to easy to just leave and forget it all game. Not interacting with it should mean you have very little AA defense while interacting with it should mean the sector you reinforce is as strong as your ship type can make it.

You should always have to do something to get rewards not just set and forget or not bother in the first place.

Kudos to you, you’re exactly the kind of player that I never want to see when I’m sailing out in a carrier (read: a smart one).

Just make it keys. Leave all your elitist, clap trap to yourself. It is the only thing in the game that is not a key function.

elitist clap trap?.......

Should have looked more closely at the difference between battles you've played on your banner and battles you've played over all.... I wouldn't have bothered replying the first time...... 7k Co-Op?..... your replies make more sense now.

I suggest you keep your own clap trap to yourself.

Co-op shaming. Elitist confirmed.

My Cleveland Capt is Level 14.  I run PT, LS, BFT, AFT, CE, and the AA  module (for the two extra bursts).  I don't have manual, will probably go IF/HE once my Captain is fully spec'd.  As for IF/HE, note in the video I pinged the Zep and didn't get a pen.  Embarrassing.

As for the interface, it's actually more user involvement than in the old way, and requires a lot more "thinking" than appears.  First, there is positioning.  Not just to get your arcs correct, but your distance as well.  Gotta know your range rings and your DPM, so you pick the proper time to pop your high alert (look at Yubari's stats to  know what I mean).  And then there is both the switch timing and maneuver timing. And if you have a fighter, timing on that as well (Note:  most players pop it too late!!!).

Speaking of Yubari.  As one of the lowest tier CA with high alert, it requires a pretty good knowledge of the system to use it properly.  It has good range, but abysmal long range constant DPM.  Pop high alert when aircraft are in the outer ring and you won't do much.  If the aircraft are attacking you, then you'll get a few, but if you're escorting someone in your outer ring, you'll often get nothing.  If escorting with Yubari....you must be very close to the ship you're escorting to maximize its AA punch.

Ahhh teamwork for the win. That's what I strive for, that W. The other stats really don't mean 1/10th as much. I hope he gave ya the +1 after to acknowledge the effort!

I'll let a Cleveland use my Mush as a meat shield any day, this was I can protect him with my 18.1" of AP love while he fires over me.

Wish someone would do that for me while I need to grab some credits in Musashi.   That thing is like a giant,  torp me, I'm a HP pinata sign for CVs...    I generally try to follow AA ships but inevitably that becomes impossible.   Everyone gripes about their DDs but that ship may have been  the most effected by the rework.

Truthfully, Musashi's total lack of AA was well known. @LittleWhiteMousestrongly noted it in her review way back. It's just that people got to take advantage of it in the old meta where you hardly ever saw a CV. Ashitaka, Mutsu, Roma and Tirpitz are also notorious for bad AA. It's just that Musashi is the most played of that group along with Tirpitz.

If you are in a CV the first thing you look for at the start of the match is what BBs have weak AA the same way BBs look for a weak cruiser to pick on and Musashi is the Holy Grail for CVs. In Musashi's defense though it takes a LOT of CV strikes to sink one and requires a long time to do it. You can actually spend the entire match doing it. I did over 100k to a Musashi and he survived to the end of the match with good use of damage control and heals.
