Have to [edited]stop. This crapis absolutely ridiculous. A battleships primary source of damage is being completely nullified. And it's getting worse. Fix this crapnow.

You BB players don't know the full effects of what you ask for.

 

WG was going to fix this a while back by making hits to modules do actual ship HP damage.  But you BB players didn't stop and think that all those modules laced all over your ship, including your torpedo bulges, will be farmed to deal big penetration damage against you.

 

Hits to the torp bulge, they're what?  32mm?  You'll get penetrated there the same way 32mm armor sections on BBs get eaten up (hint, French & RN Battleships).

Hits to your MANY Secondary, AA, Main Battery Gun Mounts.  All causing ship HP damage.  In the current system, shell hits to your superstructure but end up destroying something like an AA or Secondary Gun Mount saved you from taking damage from your ship HP.

 

Battleships would have been most affected by that change WG was about to do.  Supertesters, CCs pointed out how horrible an idea it was and WG stopped work on this.

 

Personally, I really did wish WG went through with it, just so I could watch Battleship tears on this forum.  Not like there's any shortage of BB tears to begin with.

The BB is the easiest, most flexible, most damaging, best surviving and best XP/credit earning ship on average across all servers for years. The stats/evidence is there for all to see.

WG protects them because the BB draws in the players, is the most played ship type and therefore brings in the revenue - so to look after your majority player base makes sense.

That is probably why, even when they do the most damage, WG listen and trialled tests. Only thing is it affected BBs just as much, if not more, because of previous mechanics put in place to make their life easier (torp belts). Therefore not wishing to mess with the BB fun, it was not adopted.

The real question is - I wonder if it would have been adopted if it had given the BB players what they wanted? :Smile_smile:

Let's not forget the fairly recent nerf to Flood effects, damage.  BBs gained a tremendous amount from that and one of the strongest effects of torpedoes is now heavily negated.  You could ride out a Flood effect now and it wouldn't hurt much, whereas in the past, a Flood allowed to run rampant was catastrophic, likely fatal event.

Would‘ve been fun to watch a Battleship getting torn a new one by an Akizuki firing AP the torpedo bulge. Those juicy 3-5k volleys every 3s, and if you angle, HE will do for similar damage :Smile_teethhappy:
