Yup.. another fix this fricking MM..

WG says it will balance out.. really.. been keeping stats for the past 3 days..  42 games.. 22 games being bottom tier, 8 games being mid tier and 12 games being top tier.

All at T6-7-8..

This is just plain [edited].. Especially when there's more than 1 CV in the games too..

Updating it daily for that "stat" factor.

Better that Tier VIII faces Tier X than Tier VII faces Tier VIII.  The advantage that VIII has over VII is larger due to concealment module and 32mm plating.

I've always been a proponent for +/-1 MM, but sadly WG refuses to move on this one :Smile_sceptic:

Tier 7 sees tier 8 every day; this statement is ridiculous. The main reason there is such an ability jump between tier 7 and tier 8 is so those really experienced players who have ground out a tier 3 BB can go grab Mommy's credit card, get a tier 8 premium (and there are a boatload of them to choose from), and stomp the snot out of some tier 7 FTP player who can't afford to spend money on the game. Which isn't pay to win; it's pay to dominate, and WG is, and always has been and always will be, about the cash!

Why do people use +2/-2 to describe match making?

MM is 0+2.  There is no down-tiering.

Quit using logic, it's unbecoming.

T8s gets up-tiered +2 into a T10 battle.

The battle level is always the level of the highest ship.  If you enter battle in a T7, and you see 5,6,7, you are in a T7 battle.  If you enter in a T5, and see 5,6,7, you are also in a T7 battle.

T10 will only ever be in a T10 battle.  If there are 8s & 9s, they got uptiered.

Hmm. Interesting perspective.

OK then, the answer is +1/0 matchmaking, not +1/-1.  (Yes, I'm one of those people... :Smile_hiding:)

I think it came about because a tier 8 ship could not only see tier 10s but tier 6s and so even though you are more correct, that label just kind of stuck.

It's not a different type of math; it's how it actually works.

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Battle_Mechanics_(WoWS)

That chart is from 0.5.9.  You'll have to ignore the odd-tiered carriers (rework), but look at that chart until it makes sense.

0.5.9 was July 2016, so matchmaking has been shown on the official wiki as 0+2 for almost 3 years.

This is also tracked in your logfiles.  If you have mxstat installed, it records the battle level for every match.  You will never see a battle level lower than the tier of your ship.  It is always equal, +1, or +2.

Does it really matter?  The issue is being in a game with +2 tiered ships/planes.

Lets say you ar T8.  You can face T6's at the low end and T10's at the high

So (-2 T6) T8 (+2 T10).

Nope.  It doesn't actually matter one bit.  But when the first 6 pages of the forum is 90% whine posts, it made for a more interesting reply than 'git gud'.

Here we go again.  Okay, "you ar T8"(sic).

Congrats Captain!  If you see T6s in your T8, you are top tier in a Tier 8 match!  (MM +0)

Oh, condolences, Captain!  If you see T10s in your T8, you are bottom tier in a Tier 10 match.  (MM +2)
