Friend sent me this and with April 1st around the corner it was hard to believe. The actual project was underway. The Carrier : HMS HABAKKUK was to be made of pulp and ice with a displacement of 2.2 mil tons. Will it eventually see action in this game in some form??? LOL

Please no........The forums would implode in an explosion and turn into a black hole the minute that thing would hit the dev blog.

The mosquito is going to be attack planes and torpedoes planes are probably going to be carrying 4 torpedoes per plane DD damage.

Except that when it was shown Wargaming had in fact made it - that didn't happen.

Habakkuk (or more accurately Habakkuk II) is good for a joke thing like April Fools, however for practical gameplay Habakkuk III is likely a better candidate - It was meant to be quite a bit smaller and faster - maybe 600m long at most (double pretty much any ship in game length) But still slow, easy to spot and likely pounded the entire match. Also not beyond Wargaming (or me) to go to a what if they had made a normal size carrier, or a more normal sized one, using at the most twin engine bombers like the Wellington (USN proved the viability of it with the Doolittle raid and Sangri-La tests) and maybe standard fighters (or stick to the Hornet/Mosquito).

Plus for all the concern of waves of Lancasters with grand slams - if you think current UK planes are flying bricks these would be slower, worse turning and less accurate, and seen at least 2-3x as far out as regular planes, and if balanced right A BB might have to worry, and a DD would maybe be annoyed by all the splashes. That and typical anti-shipping loadout of a Lancaster was 6x 2000 lb bombs - same as a Midway attack squadron currently uses in Dive Bombing. Now make it a bigger, slower plane you see coming about 15 km out that has to use level bombing with a way less accurate drop circle and likely 1 plane at a time, MAYBE 2. The current starting aimpoint of UK level bombers on Furious would likely be close to max aim of these things.

Enough time, patience, and know how you can balance just about anything.

The only reason to have this ice palace in game is so that the Lancaster can carry the OTHER 12,000lb anti-ship loadout. :Smile_trollface:
