Why on Earth does the Seattle have aircraft catapults, but no access to aircraft consumables?

If you look at the Seattle in port, you can clearly see it has 2 amidship aircraft catapults, complete with a seaplane. Yet the Wiki says Seattle can't use any sort of aircraft consumable?!?!

Seriously, Seattle is a paper ship, WG could have designed the model in any way they wanted, if they didn't want the ship to be able to launch fighters, why did they add the catapults and fighters?

Could it be in keeping with the fact that radar ships generally do not have usable planes?

but then why did WG spend time and money to actually draw the airplane and catapults? Wouldn't it be much easier to just leave the ship deck empty?

I understand your question but to this comment, I am sure at this point they are literally copy/pasted in from their pool of parts resources.  I doubt it took all that long to place them in.

If I had to guess, they probably originally intended for it to have planes but then changed their mind.  Just never removed the asset from the rendered model.

Other reason is some ships in history were originally designed to carry the catapult planes, but then went into service without them for various reasons including not feel they were needed. So you could end up with the cranes and some of the things needed for the planes, but no planes.

Because the Seattle has so much AA the Pilots don't dare take off in it.

Because 112,500 credits in consumable costs sounds better than 135k?

Not entirely true. Most radar ships have the option to carry planes (examples: Buffalo, Baltimore, Alaska, Cleveland, Des Moines), but have to give up radar in order to do so. Why Seattle and Worcester have aircraft handling facilities but no option for aircraft is not really clear to me, but probably has to do with them having dual-purpose main batteries (less need for cat fighter) and really long shell flight times (spotter not that useful).

mmmm i would call that untrue. the USN CAs all have aircraft for an option, and the russian ships that do have a aviation facility do as well.

It's likely because it's based on a real USN design, and that design contained catapults and aircraft.

Was it designed after the original blue print of the Seattle? Was it designed with catapults?

Anyways, most of the DD's have racks of depth charges that are currently completely aesthetics
