Sorry WG, not good enough.

- Same guns as Buffalo/Des Moines, but less of them.

- Same gun arc, inaccurate

- Same damage per shot (almost) but MUCH slower firing.

- Worse detection, worse steering, worse speed addition.

- More health,....cool, you live a minute longer until the 3-4 fires you have for 60 seconds kill you.

For 1 million free XP, this simply isnt good enough. If I want a buffalo or Des Moines, I'll play Buffalo or Des Moines, if I want something worse,.....well, I know which ship to pick.

Everything you mentioned was pretty much known prior to its release.. So I ask, why did you purchase it?

Because I had 2 million free xp, and I can't sell it, so I might as well use it.

It is trash? So you think the Buffalo and the Des Moines are trash also?

Confused.

What about the guns is the same as Buffalo/DM other than them having improved auto bounce angles? Maybe I’m missing something here?

Cruiser for the same price as a BB. No thanks.

They tried this crap with Wichita too... and I passed on it as well.

Same guns?  No...

Same arc, inaccurate? User error

Same damage? See the first answer

Worse detection, etc?  That tends to happen to larger ships.

Weak troll attempt is weak.

I think at this point, they are so hesitant to release any overpowered ships now that they are overcompensating downwards.  Nobody is going to complain if a ship gets a buff (even a premium), but they have already seen what awaits them if they even consider a nerf.  Therefore, we get a slightly worse Buffalo/DM with more HP, and I'm sure they will consider buffing it if needed.

Sitting on 1.3m FXP and with having all the tech tree US cruisers unlocked plus a few US premium cruisers.....I was considering it.  Putting it on hold a bit till some other people weight in, but this is helpful feedback for the list for sure.

Except for overmatch, ballistics and penetrations, pretty much the same gun, sure.

7 minutes ago, BoS_Mud said:

78% more damage on the AP and 53.5% more damage on the HE, coupled with a 92.8% increase in fire chance. If that is almost the same damage per shot, I don't know what your standards are.

For being more survivable, a fair deal. Although the acceleration is identical to that of Buffalo.

More health, more armor, more favorable citadel location. No idea why you are trying to play that down.

4.2mil free xp.

Question for me is more will I make it a PvE only ship like Enterprise or not.

The guns won't overmatch cruiser bows at that tier, and the increased fire duration means bots will burn you down.

As a PvE main, I'm staying away from it.

JB does pretty well in PvE, though it feels more like a tier 8.5 than a 9. I have no need for a tier 8.5 cruiser when my tier 8 BBs get the same MM.

Completely False.  Buffalo/Des Moines have 203mm guns. Alaska has 305 mm guns.

First part false, second part true.  Des Moines arcs take 6.0 seconds to reach 10km, 10.6 seconds to reach 15km. Alaska's take 5.3 seconds to reach 10 km, 8.9 seconds to reach 15km.  ie, arcs are better.  Dispersion is worse, though, given use of the same dispersion formula as Spee, and not the cruiser formula.

First part false, second part true. Des Moines has 2,800 HE and 5,000 AP Alphas. Alaska has 4,300 HE and 8,900 AP Alphas.  Yes it's slower firing. It also has 140mm or more penetration with the AP at ALL ranges.  You're comparing apples to oranges.

True, but bigger ship, lower citadel, more armour...Apples to oranges again

Yup, more health, armour, and so on...because it's not the same kind of ship.

If I want to play those, I'll play those too.  If I want to play an American super cruiser equivalent to Kronshtadt, I'll play Alaska.  None of your criticisms are valid or relevant as they are either downright false and/or are comparing two completely different ship types.  Sorry.

They may still make balance passes over the ship for improvements, it is a wait and see kind of thing, one question I have is what is the earnings potential of it, compared to other FXP ships, with MO being the best so far.
