I am a fan of the t-50 tanks in wot but when this opens fully i hope to use a pt boat and be like a t-50-2. And zoom around torpedohing every ship i come to.

There will be nothing smaller than a destroyer in the game.  Additional details and information can be found in the FAQ and in the Developers Q&A.

Not really.  A pt boat had 2-4 torpedoes, and no reloads.  You'd have to get close, fire, and then be useless for the rest of the battle.  Instead you get a destroyer, which can carry reloads for the torpedoes, has more torpedo tubes, and has guns that can penetrate some armor.  Speed wise, a fast destroyer is not that much slower than a pt boat.

You have Destroyers to be the fast torpedo boats, plus in game Aviation will be the main scouts

You know, I wonder if there is enough interest in a game of merchants and subs? You can work your way up the PT boat/ Destroyer chain and up the Sub chain, but the only way to earn creidts is to play a Merchant Ship. You get to buy premiums like Britannic or Queen Mary, and you get bonus creds if you pilot a T2 Tanker filled with aviation fuel across sub-infested waters...

It would suck more to be in a Pt in game, at close range you will be at the mercy of a ships secondary battery.

Early in WW2 the Torpedo Boat Squadrons were the only weapon available in the Pacific which was reliably getting the job done. They were scoring more torpedo hits, sinking more tonnage, and scouting, delivering mail, and otherwise making a nuisance of themselves as the Japanses attack on the Phillipines was under way. Even the 29 submarines then available in the Philipines weren't keeping up with the achievements of six little pre-war PT-Boats of MBT Squadron 3.

They specialized in what today would be called Littoral Combat. They used the night, the jungle, and the rocks and reefs as camoflage to make daring attacks often doomed to fail because dud torpedoes were more common than actual firing ones at the time. They were, in fact, the big success story of the US defense of the Philipines, and the lessons learned there went on to pay dividends in the Solomons and other campaigns.

Then you need look no farther than the brawling night-fights of the Guadalcanal and Solomons campaigns. Large naval assets were pulled away from Guadalcanal after creating 'Ironbottom Sound' leaving the Mosquito-boat Squadrons to handle the Tokyo express. The record says MBT's took a licking and kept on sinking those barges, including the armored versions, that were hauling gear, goods, and grunts to the battles.
