A few* of us like to relax with a delicious adult beverage or several while we blow up ships. In this thread, please let us know what you are enjoying night by night (I am genuinely interested).

Also, on a scale of 1 to legozer, how much of said beverage are you getting into?

I will start: I'm enjoying a pint of Heineken (which I used to not care for but now, out of the blue, I've started to really enjoy), a glass of Sonoma Merlot from Benzinger Family Vineyards, and here and there, a nip of Johnny Walker Black (which I've always quite liked, but forgot about for too long). I'll likely stop playing ranked after half the bottle of wine and 5 pints, but will continue into randoms for a bit. I'm in the restaurant biz, so tonight is my Saturday night. If you see me any time after midnight, I'm likely well into the scotch, listening to The Red Headed Stranger. Scotch really puts a hankerin' for Willie Nelson into me...

I am more of a Highlands scotch and the occasional cigar guy.  Tonight is MacAllan 12 year double cask and a Padron 4000 Series Natural Toro while I whip up a Caesar Salad on the grill for the Wife and Dinos.

CUTE basically consists of undiagnosed alcoholics with a bad case of insomnia.

Players complain lots about other players doing stupid things.  Many of those players doing stupid things are, frankly, drunk.  Or impaired on something else. It can often be quite obvious.

My favorite thread, she is back.  I trust you were unable to find Part 1? <tsk tsk> WG.

Sounds like my bicycle club.  Bunch of drinkers with a bicycle problem.

Tonight, the Galliano bottle called me but I'm out of orange juice.  So I invented an analog to Harvey Wallbanger of vodka, galliano, and a really cheap mango punch.  It's pretty good!  Likely stick to two tonight.

Try a little Galliano in your old fashioned some time.

I don't drink Old Fashioneds.  But I'll keep your suggestion in mind.  Wonder what's in the back of the liquor cabinet?

I rarely drink but if I do, its more of a tropical drink.

Coconut rum mixed with orange and pineapple juice.

It tastes amazing. It was called the "Painkiller" when I got it at a local bar where I used to live.

I really want some of that. West Virginia is my favourite state that's not Islands in the Pacific, and I am really into moonshining and the history of it all. Sadly, I have had very little Mountain Dew in my life....some great Mississippi shine, though.

Smooth as silk and with the kick of a plow mule. You can drink it all night; until you try to stand up and you discover someone has stolen your knees.

I hate my knees and have waged war on them my entire life. THIS SOUNDS LIKE AN EXCELLENT DRINK FOR ME!

Aberfeldy here. Discovered it by accident at my local liquor store. I'm rather fond of it.

Oh! I have never tried it, but I had a bottle in my hands just yesterday! You have made a decision for me. Much appreciated.

Hope it doesn't disappoint - I wasn't expecting much out if a 40$ bottle of scotch, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Last night, a classic martini:

  • 3 oz of a good gin (the better the gin, the better the martini)
  • capful+ of French vermouth, white
  • dash of Angostura bitters
  • shake vigorously over ice
  • strain into a martini glass
  • garnish with an olive**

** The olive is important.  Most are too large and/or too salty.  I prefer the low-salt canned versions, but these don't keep so one ends up throwing out half the can.  If I can find them (and they're rare), a green olive stuffed with an almond.  (The ones you can find are too huge.)  Pimento is okay, but I haven't found one that isn't too salty.

A twist of lemon rind is also interesting.  Some people like a pearl onion; I've never gotten the attraction.  One bartender I know tries to get people to appreciate a cucumber slice floated on top.  To me, cucumber overwhelms the drink.  Martinis are subtle.  Even cuke is too strong.

Anyway, I ended up not playing but watching the film 'Saving Grace'.
