I like this. Subs spawn behind the enemy to "encourage" the BBs etc to actually push up. And deal with the CVs. I mean, kind of hard to make it worse than it is...

Exocet missiles. They can be launched from forts in Operations, ships and submarines in all modes, and from the forthcoming helicopter class that I just dreamed up. The good news is that there is little point in maneuvering to avoid something that is a radar-guided super-sonic warhead, so we can remove all WASD hacks from the game. New gameplay involves loading into the match, waiting for your 3 carriers to launch their AWACS platforms, and then pressing the 4 key as rapidly as possible, selecting different targets between shots. Games should end in under 2 minutes, so you can get many more games in during a one-hour session.

Plus, it's much more realistic. AWACS planes at 35k feet don't have to worry about mountains blocking their view (games in the new Nepal map would be an exception), the range and speed of the missiles is such that flying around/over mountains is no issue, and in real-world engagements typically one or two hits are sufficient to sink even warships, so the complaints about unlimited ammo can be safely retired. At T10 there is an premium consumable for Keyhole spy-satellite images so you don't even need to wait for the AWACS to launch.

Dunno what tiers you're playing, but playing T6s, at least one team is pretty much always pushing forward in groups. When I die in a CV, it's usually an enemy ship, and often not a DD.

I think people are figuring out that the sooner you move up, the sooner you can shut off the planes. Hanging back just lets the CVs peck away at you for a longer time, against your dwindling AA.

I've been playing T8+ lately. Nobody pushes because the DDs don't want to do anything (can't really blame them). My comment was more aimed at the general tendency for BBs to camp the back of the map. Had a Musashi in ranked the other day who hid behind an island the entire game until he was killed by an Iowa. 200K+ damage wasted partly because of him.

Also please bring back coastal batteries, introduce island SAM sites and AA gun batteries, PT boats, missile boats, and minelayers.  I think this will make things interesting for everyone.

Yeah, that is all this game needs.  Functionally invisible ships.  Then we can have all the fun again that we had early on with DD's.
